About this listen

Just before dawn one winter’s morning, a hijacked aeroplane blows apart high above the English Channel and two figures tumble, clutched in an embrace, towards the sea: Gibreel Farishta, India’s legendary movie star, and Saladin Chamcha, the man of a thousand voices.

Washed up, alive, on an English beach, their survival is a miracle. But there is a price to pay. Gibreel and Saladin have been chosen as opponents in the eternal wrestling match between Good and Evil. But chosen by whom? And which is which? And what will be the outcome of their final confrontation?

Twilight Zone meets Dusk Till Dawn

I enjoyed it. A bit dark with some interesting characters. Best have your Google Translate set to Hindi to fully appreciate this.

Phenomenal

I am so very glad that nearly everything that can be said about this book has been said by my appropriate, knowledgeable, and intelligent people than myself because I don't have a clue what to say on finishing this beyond absolutely loving it with the Sagar Arya narration being one of the greatest performances I've ever had the privilege of listening to!

Absolutely bloody marvellous.

I would be lying if I said I got all of it and didn't struggle a little with keeping track of everything, but this absolutely blew me away.

Just...wow!

Could not finish it

Not for me I'm afraid, I was keen on reading/hearing this story as it is so historically important. I found the narrator very tedious, and the story confusing.
The "comedic" delivery style does absolutely nothing for me.

The delivery makes it impossible to evaluate

Unfortunately the narrator uses the kind of over-the top by a mile comic style that has never worked for me, it's extremely annoying. I see it actually works for some people so it's probably just a question of individual taste.
However, I have found it impossible to listen to and therefore have no idea what the book is about. I'm glad it's included with my account so I didn't need to pay for it.
Might try a regular book format one day.

Sagar Arya makes it worth it

Magical realism meets religious fiction. I tried reading this a few time before but the writing style just didn’t work for me. However I’m so glad I downloaded it on audible. A fantastic story brilliantly performed by Sagar Arya

Annoying Narration

Despite most of the listeners complaining about the narration I decided to give it a chance because I have been really wanting to read this book for sometime now. Sorry to say this but the narration was so hard to listen to and I did not enjoy it one bit.

A very interesting an sometimes comady

Loved the narration
Loved the story which is a mix of Arabian Night tales, legend and myth.
I listened to it all the way through and tried hard to see where it was blasphemous. Could find anything wrong except it is a funny yet serious book, extremely well written and presented.
Having read it I went and purchased Midnights Children by Mr Rushdie. Great writer
