About this listen

The eastern front is a place where soldiers never sleep and artillery guns howl without rest. This quagmire is where the Salamander Kampfgruppe has been hurled once again, just another cog in the grand war machine of their fatherland. Still, there's only so much one unit can do. As the fighting ramps up with renewed enemy attacks and a brand-new weapon that pitches the Federation's quantity against the Empire's quality, Tanya faces one of her toughest battles yet, making a certain visitor's arrival a sight for sore eyes...

Good story, monotone performance

The story is excellent but compared to the previous voice actors this performance just feels half baked. Not much effort put in to differenciate the characters when they are speaking or thinking in first person made it at times difficult to follow who was saying what.

Good story, but the narrator was a little monotone

It took me a while to get back to this book after hearing the narrators performance, but it seems to have gotten better later on. Looking forward to the next volume!

Same great story, worse VA, but overall good

you get used to the new va, not near as good as either of the previous, but nonetheless the overall experience is enriched by the va's performance. If you enjoyed the last six volumes I can highly recommend this Book.

Horrible recast. DO NOT BUY.

she speaks waaay to slow I'm listening at 1.2 speed, her Tanya voice is not childlike but bitchy, the male cast sounds like a caricature, and she has about as much emotions as a brick wall. Totally unenjoyable. 0/5. Story is good tho. I'd recommend reading the book.

the only reason I haven't tried a refund is to warn others, to not waste credit or money on this.

as usual, the production or whoever is in charge of casting is an incompetent moron. at least the mixing is good now.

no hate to the voice actress, she's just not the person for the role.

edit: decided to refund it. i just can't finish this trash.

Amazing story, however the recast was awful

The story is amazing, and honestly kept me going, but the new VA… where do I start? She mispronounces names, (the gulag word ligere or something, this is only noticeable because the previous VA got it right and said it so often), the new VA doesn’t bother with accents, so everyone’s just a variation of American which is a serious downgrade.

My advice? Get it if you REALLY like the story, otherwise give it a pass, they might re-record it someday with a better VA, until that day, don’t waste your time on it unless you’re really invested in how the story develops.

The biggest problem with the VA is that the previous one was so good, that her somewhat average performance comes off as horrendous by comparison.

Overall 2/5, cannot recommended to your average casual listener.
