Summary
A powerful personal journey to find meaning and life lessons in the words of a wildly popular 13th century poet.
Rumi's inspiring and deceptively simple poems have been called ecstatic, mystical, and devotional. To writer and activist Melody Moezzi, they became a lifeline. In The Rumi Prescription, we follow her path of discovery as she translates Rumi's works for herself - to gain wisdom and insight in the face of a creative and spiritual roadblock. With the help of her father, who is a lifelong fan of Rumi's poetry, she immerses herself in this rich body of work, and discovers a 13th-century prescription for modern life.
Addressing isolation, distraction, depression, fear, and other everyday challenges we face, the book offers a roadmap for living with intention and ease, and embracing love at every turn - despite our deeply divided and chaotic times. Most of all, it presents a vivid reminder that we already have the answers we seek, if we can just slow down to honor them.
- You went out in search of gold far and wide, but all along you were gold on the inside.
- Become the sky and the clouds that create the rain, not the gutter that carries it to the drain.
- You already own all the sustenance you seek. If only you'd wake up and take a peek.
- Quit being a drop. Make yourself an ocean.

Rumi’s poetry finely enter into my life
Melody relates Rumi’s wisdom to her life and I through her story I managed to relate to Rumi in a more pragmatic way that makes sense . So, thanks Melody for sharing your story and relating your healing to love ... unconditional love to yourself and to others. Love does not discriminate on any ground and everyone can love as everyone needs to be loved and love !

A good Rumi experience
Some very thought provoking moments here. Like about ego, anger and arrogance going hand in hand.
Some parts I identified with in the book, however I didn't like the part where Melody disrespects mosques that was uncalled for.
Mosques mean different things to different people. One should always be respectful no matter what we think of a concept as there can be multiple perspectives to something only if we try to see differently.
Talking about the beloved in the book, it may be that the beloved is a Mosque to someone. So please bear that in mind. I find so much peace from such a stressful life when I go to my local Mosque and yes women are free to enter and be part of Mosques.
Nevertheless, thank you for sharing the Rumi Prescription, it's inspirational and much respect to your father for teaching you it.

Personal and powerful
Excellent narration highlighting major life issues and how an ancient Turkish mystic and poet's words have never been more apt for finding beauty in the mundane and downright repressive.

Insightful, thought provoking, and brilliant.
This book drew me in from the first page, so wonderfully brought to life by beautiful narration. Each prescription was eye opening, self challenging and an emotional journey of realisation. I found myself regularly laughing, often hoping, sometimes praying, and occasionally crying. If you’ve found this book while searching for ‘Rumi’ as I did then I highly recommend you take this journey first.
