Summary

Saint Gildas, also called Gildas the Wise (c. 494 or 516 - c. 570) was a prominent member of the Celtic Church in Britain. This work, "De Excidio Britanniae", is a long sermon condemning the acts of his contemporaries. The main thrust of his work is a complaint against paganism.

I couldn’t get on with the narration

For me the narration of this was dry, lifeless and monotonous. I also found it read too quick like a list and at times I could tell when it had been cut as often the first three words has been repeated as though mistakenly chopped. This may well have been in the original writing but it seemed out of place. Gildas is a he’s listen as it is as it reads like a list of sins but the narration didn’t help on this occasion. However, good that such a historical document is available as an audiobook. But could just be better in my opinion
