Summary

This readable, accessible narrative story of the Protestant Reformation is the fifth volume of the popular series with Westminster John Knox Press intended for "armchair theologians."

A solid grounding in the history of the Reformation and its leading ideas, and the inclusion of "Questions for Discussion" and "Suggestions for Further Reading" make this book excellent for study groups, or as a refresher "course" for students, and even as a good starting point for those interested in the larger discipline of church history.

Good but a bit short of theology

Overall, an enjoyable listen. And well read, too. It is much more historical than theological - which was good, but strange considering the title. Also, the approach to history very much concentrates on the royals and royal dynasties of the time. Little is said of the general social background nor the economic settings. That said, I enjoyed it.
