Summary

John Flanagan makes a spectacular return to the world of Ranger’s Apprentice with the revelation of a conspiracy that could end the Kingdom!

John Flanagan returns to the world of Ranger’s Apprentice to find out what happens when Will’s apprentice, Maddie - the Royal Ranger - returns home to Castle Araluen. The Kingdom may have been at peace for a number of years, but there are always those who would commit treason to take power for themselves. When Maddie learns of a plot against the crown, she must go undercover to find out more - and hopefully stop it. But going undercover isn’t easy when you’re the princess - even if you’re trained as a Ranger.

Following on from Ranger's Apprentice: The Royal Ranger is a second book of Maddie's adventures. Princess by day, Ranger's apprentice by night, Maddie must keep her identity secret at all costs, for the sake of the Kingdom.

Terrible narrator

My boys and I have listened to all the Ranger Apprentice series and narrator William Zappa was brilliant- why have they changed. This new guy has ruined it. How could the publisher have allowed this? It’s TERRIBLE!

Great book

love listening to all the books just hoping "duel at araluan" is released in the UK soon kinda ruining the story when you go from book 2 to book 4 and it seems I'll be listening to book 5 before I hear book 3

not as good as the ones before this one

the change in readers wasn't the best choice and felt like the story was dragged out to make two book out of it explanations that where 10 to 20 mins long happened a couple of times and no second part book 3 is missing

Brilliant story, not the right narrator

As always, the story is top quality but I found it hard to adjust to very different accents for the main characters. Also some weird pronunciations like ‘Annie’ for ‘any’ which jarred repeatedly through the story. Will persist with the series for the story quality and because the boys love to listen on long car journeys but I don’t plus have preferred William Zappa to have continued the series for continuity.

The story continues but the narration not so..

Unfortunately the narrator made this unlistenable. The inability to pronounce in the english language made this an end for me. The pace was also shifted to be far to quick. I will continue on paper/kindle. Apologies but this was a sad end to listening to this for me and I'll be avoiding this narrator going forward.

good story, not so good narration

the story's excellent, typical john flanagan but the narration requires serious tolerating. john keating really can't compete with william zappa, his pronunciation is often very off, inflection on sentences is very strange and his accents are very overblown and almost sound mocking.

Dreadful new narrator

Why change from an excellent narrator to one who can't do voices? It's an audiobook, the narrator is key!

Good Story, Awful Narrator

The story itself was fine but really did not like the narrator. His style is clipped and irritating and he over emphasises the pronunciation of words which is extremely irritating and spoils tbe flow. The accents he uses for the various main characters are poor and dont fit the characters.

changed the voice actor

i dont understand why they would change from a perfectly good voice actor to a new one that cant do voices and just doesnt fit the story, he doesnt know how they sounds so he just does the same voice for all of them
