Summary
Sergeant Wade McKinnon knows who killed Samantha the moment he arrives at her crime scene. Problem is, he watched her killer die a year ago.
A year after serial killer Michael Rhodes is executed and allowed to donate part of his brain as an organ transplant, Wade gets called to a murder scene that shares uncanny similarities to those of the late Michael Rhodes. Other similar killings happen around Seattle, and Wade seems to be the only person still alive who knows enough about Michael Rhodes’ murders to be able to replicate them. When evidence found at one of the crime scenes points to Wade as the killer, he races to find the real culprit before it’s too late to clear his own name.
Elle is overjoyed when her husband receives a partial brain transplant and gets a second chance at life. Until she learns that his brain cells came from a serial killer....
The Recipient is a chilling crime thriller mixed with domestic suspense that will leave you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

The Recipient
What a brilliant book from Audrey J Cole, well written and once started, I could not stop until the end. The narrators did a great job too and had all the characters covered. Looking forward to listening to my next read/listen!!

Fantastic
Loved listening to this and was quite sad it finished. I don't normally like male narrates but this one was good. I will definitely be listening to more of this author work.

Fast paced twisty thriller
I received a free copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an unbiased review.
This is a highly entertaining police thriller centred around the troubled detective (aren't they all?) Wade McKinnon on the hunt for a killer who is utilising the MO of a previous killer who has been executed.
The story is very well written, if a bit far fetched in places, and full of twists and turns. The author keeps up the pace and ratchets the tension as the book heads towards its conclusion
The narration by Marcio Catalano and Veronica Pace was good but I'm in two minds about it. Here's why. It's not unusual for two narrators to take turns to narrate a male point of view chapter or a female one - but in this case, as well, the male narrator voiced all the male dialogue and the female narrator voiced all the female dialogue, regardless of whose point of view we were in. I've never had an audiobook narrated that way and it was quite jarring, though I got used to it. I'm genuinely still in two minds whether I like it or not!
As a side note, it's my opinion that the blurb on the goodreads page (which I assume is from the back of the book) gives away far too much plot information.
In summary a fun and entertaining read and I look forward to visiting Emerald City again.

This book is fast paced with a good story if sometimes predictable, having said that, the ending is brilliant and surprising, you can easily guess some of it but there is a twist at the end which i certainly did not expect. The use of 2 narrators was exceptional, this is the first book I've read done this way and for me it works very well. Both narrators do a great job, very clear. Highly recommended, I now want to know what McKinnon gets up to next so straight on to book 2!

you don't need to be a brain scientists to like
Wow, this is the first book I have read/heard from this author but it won't be the last. I loved it even though I suspected who the killer was the author was still clever enough that she still got an 'a har' moment out of me. I liked the characters and it did keep me guessing if I was right. The story is told by several of the characters but it worked and wasn't jumpy in the telling.
Sergeant Wade McKinnon is called in to look at a dead body found in a hotel room. As soon as he enters he know this is not going to be an ordinary or easy case because he had all ready caught the killer and watched him die by leathal injection.
Battling demons of his past he once again has to catcher what he hopes won't be a prolific serial killer and re visit the worst case of his career. Then another body is found, closer to home this time but with no evidence and the killings exactly the same he starts to wonder if it's a copy cat or did they get the right man in the first place.
At the same time Elle is worried her husband is having an affair, late nights at work and smelling perfume on him. When she talks to her sister we explains that after a brain transplant it is normal for the person to be different and give it time. Elle can't give it up he is just acting to weird, then she discovers who the transplant came from and being afraid of an affair is the least of her worries.
I really liked the production of this audio book with the use of a male and female narrator it really made the story enjoyable and brought the characters to life in my mind.
Over all a great book and a must listen.

Gripping
I really enjoyed the book and loved the story line.
The writer has made it easy to identify with the characters and therefore get lost in their world.
I would recommend this audio book
