Summary

The Prodigal is a spicy, frenemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance full of delicious angst and heart-wrenching revelations by best-selling author Kristy Marie.

Arrogant.
Indifferent.
Uncompromising.
Remington Potter was a sarcastic jerk with a body of an avenging angel. He screamed good times and bad decisions.
But that’s not what made us friends.
His saving me that one night did—even if he denied it.
Remington Potter was my antihero.
I owed him at least a friendship and a plastic chair.
But I made one mistake.
I didn’t knock.
I didn’t look away.
All I saw was him on the floor.
Tormented.
Enraged.
And broken.
But that wasn’t the worst part.
I discovered Remington Potter wasn’t the mysterious savior I thought he was.
He was vengeful.
And I was the final piece in his game.

The Prodigal is a full-length standalone that features crossover characters from the Hands of the Potters Series.

I cried harder listening than I did reading!!

Lord, I thought I was a mess reading this book but listening just hit different.

I liken Remington to a storm hitting a cliff edge. He's the chaos and unpredictability of thunderous waves crashing into shore on the rocks. He screams danger and violence whips around him like a protective armour and yet there is poetic beauty to this man. A man who has fought his whole life to be more than what he went through but can't quite make it past the bitter edge of anger. A man who despite everything and even in his bone deep need for revenge on all the sins from the past.. He still found ways to look after the ones he loved in his own way. Remington is not and will never be a hearts a flowers kind of man. He's the kind that will breath for you. The kind that will completely consume you in a some what(ALOT) of unhealthy ways and yet it's a pure kind of love. One that wouldn't ever fade. He's a lot of messed up but he is also so much more. To much to comprehend.

Eden is the sunshine to Remington's storm. The sweet to his salty. The dream the his every living nightmare. The Eve to his Adam. She from the beginning showed her strength and resilience, never once allowing his anger to cloud her judgement of the man he was under it. She chipped away little by little unknowingly to him before she created a space inside him, even he couldn't dig out. She even after everything she endured was not angry or bitter but neither did she judge him for his feelings. For how he managed his trauma. She was hella creative with the ways she played him like a fiddle to look after him when he wouldn't or couldn't. I respected the hell out of her. I also loved that even though she was kind and sweet and genuinely found magic in even the simplest of things.. This girl has claws and wasn't afraid to put her monster in his place. She snarked and fought just as hard if not harder than him for him. I loved her.

These two are about as dysfunctional as it gets. Remington and Eden had so much trauma between them it's a wonder neither drowned in their own sorrow. Yet it's also what made them work. They understood each other in ways no one else could. They protected, they fought, they laughed and they played hard. It was exhilarating and exhausting. It was a true journey of two young people making all the mistakes, allowing themselves to be imperfectly perfect humans and learning along the ways. It wasn't perfect neither was it pretty but good lord was it a journey worth every moment to get them where they needed to be.

Side characters for me personally are a huge importance in a book. The famous potter brothers and their leading ladies along with Mav making a sneaky entry is everything. I love the relationship dynamics between Rem and the boys. It's such a tricky situation and I feel like Kristy stayed true to each character whilst also giving us readers the emotion we need and keeping it realistic. It was perfection. The emotion that went into this story is something else but it layered with sarcasm, humour and crazy that had me so completely invested.

Thank gods for the Dark lord of sarcasm and his sunshine bright leading queen is all I'm going to say.

Eden and Remington!

Remington is a man with an agenda who is determined to ensure that the people who wronged him in the past and changed the course of his life are held responsible. He has little regard for who might get caught in the crossfire but when he meets Eden, he realizes his weapon of revenge might just be his undoing as well.

Eden is feisty, fiery and so much fun. She hasn’t had the easiest past of her own, but she refuses to let it define her and when it comes to Remington she gives as good as she gets. It was only a matter of time before they finally gave in to the feelings and chemistry between them and once all is revealed the only question that remains is whether they will be each others salvation or downfall?

Remington and Eden’s is an experience you don’t want to miss. The sassy and sarcastic interactions between them will bring a smile to your face, the characters draw you in and the emotional aspect of this story is both inspiring and heartbreaking. The portrayal by the narrators brought out the humor, angst and the deep love between the characters.
