About this listen

Science fiction with a dystopian, post-apocalyptic twist, listen to the complete Planetsider Trilogy as a single boxed set.

No.1 Best Seller in Space Opera Science Fiction

From book 1:

Ethan is a ranger, sworn to protect his walled settlement from the dangers of his ravaged wasteland planet. One night, a mysterious light thunders overhead and Ethan investigates, discovering a crashed spacecraft and two soldiers from a moon base he didn’t even know existed. Captain Salus and Commander Kurren have risked everything to find a Planetsider to help save their people. Ethan needs them to answer questions that have haunted him all his life – what happened to his world and why?

Seduced by the prospect of learning the truth, Ethan agrees to help Captain Salus and Commander Kurren. Disobeying the orders of his council, he travels to the UEC outpost on the moon. There Ethan gets his answers, but the truth only leads to more questions and more doubts.

To make matters worse, Kurren and Salus are not the only ones looking for a Planetsider. An enemy faction, trapped on an orbital space station, will stop at nothing to capture Ethan, and prevent him from helping the UEC. With time running out to save the moon base, Ethan agrees to embark on a dangerous mission to recover vital technology set adrift in a radiation field that only a Planetsider can survive.

But his ship is intercepted by the rival faction and Ethan is taken to the space station. There he meets the faction’s leader, who turns his life upside down and inside out. Everything he thought he knew was a lie.

Plucked from a life of ignorance and obscurity, Ethan is thrust into the center of a war that has raged for over a century – a war that created the world he grew up in. Yet fate has a cruel sense of irony, because now the survival of two entire civilizations rests in the hands of a solitary Planetsider.

An edge-of-your-seat blend of Mil-SF action & classic apocalyptic science fiction. Perfect for fans of space opera and classic apocalyptic sci-fi.

Finalist in the Independent Audiobook Awards 2020 (Apocalyptica).

Best book I read in a long time 👌

The story flows and is easy to listen to very interesting and the characters endearing no f words which is great, a bit graphic in some places with the dying mutants. But overall the books were great kept you wanting more and great ending 👍👍

A wonderfully described story

I listened to all the trilogy and it’s approach to multiple threads running from different perspectives provide a great mix of experiences and characters to come to know. The mixture of a country life threatened and a space faring one in conflict with both politics and action make for a entertaining time.

Good but predictable story

I have enjoyed it, pretty much from start to finish. It was fairly predictable for the majority of the trilogy, but it didn't diminish how much fun it was.

My only real issue is with the reading itself. The reader does women quite the disservice. He makes a few of them sound whiney and annoying, when they're extremely strong ladies. Good books, reasonably well read.

"Temper, temper, Red Hair"

A collection of the three books comprising the Planetsider Trilogy: Planetsider, The Second Call (chapter 32) and The Last of the Firsts (chapter 72).. Together the form both a post apocalyptic and an apocalyptic tale, but one still with hope.
Unusual and well written stories with fully developed characters - Perhaps too much so as I took such a dislike to one of the central (goodie) players that I have been forced to downgrade the star rating to four.

Narration by J.S.Arquin was superb. With fully individual and appropriate voicings for every protagonist, be their part large or small, he also captured their emotions, despair, temper tantrums, wonder and love, and the text reading between speech was beautifully paced, we!l cadenced and delightfully easy on the ear. An outstanding performance and one which helped carry this reader pleasurable through from the immediately captivating start to the conclusion over 32 hours later.

I was extremely fortunate in being freely gifted with a complimentary copy of The Planetsider Trilogy, at my request, by the rights holder via Audiobook Boom. Thank you so much. I very much enjoyed being transported to another, albeit devastated, world to spend time with the inhabitants of Forest Gate Settlement, and Ethan, in particular and accompany both him and Maria, together with their various companions, on their turbulent and emotional journeys of hope, love, betrayal, fear and fighting. At times thought provoking, always edgy, yet simple, I commend this trilogy to all who enjoy military action thrillers, science fiction or are simply interested in people interacting with each other.

Good overall

While whole performance is fine, I get annoyed very fast by the way almost all dialogues are read, as if the characters are annoyed themselves and try to talk-shout or something. hard to explai, but is strongly noticeable in all the books and all characters. Rest of the narration is great
