Summary

The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

In The Path of Daggers, the eighth novel in Robert Jordan’s #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al'Thor engages in battle wearing the Crown of Swords and wielding Callandor against a force unprepared for the wrath of the Dragon Reborn.

The Seanchan invaders are heading for Illian—and Rand's army of Asha'man soldiers. When they meet in battle, some of the Asha'man are afflicted by madness, unable to control their channeling and unleashing raw power.

The madness extends to Rand himself. He has been hearing the voice of a man believed to have been the previous Dragon Reborn. Besieged by visions and debilitated whenever he uses the One Power, Rand chooses to attack the Seanchan with Callandor. The sword consumes him with a berserker rage, felling ally and enemy alike. And when he regains his senses, Rand finds himself less trusted by those who were once the most loyal.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant #1 New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

The book is good as part of the series if a little slow. Narrators are 50:50

The book is very much worth reading if you intend to complete the series, however there is not much action in this particular one.

The male narrator is excellent however Kate Reading I find jarring and would prefer a single narrator for the entire book.

what the hell is wrong here?

so first of all, wheel of time is an epic series and I'm loving it. BUT, this book and the last book, the editting has been getting worse and worse! to the point were I am pretty sure the last chapter is missing? Audible, not sure how I complain but I'll figure that out later. now I have to find an copy of the actual book and check... may stop buying the audiobook copy from here on in as a review for book 9 says the same thing. Very disappointed..

Poor Recording - The Start of the Slog

The slog isn’t as bad as I’d heard but definitely pace has slowed - still lots happening and you can feel the world, tension and stake rising throughout.
The quality of the recording is awful though - it jitters around in places and sounds like an old recording. Audibles response was pretty much note down every time it happens and let them know… pretty much impossible given I mostly listen in the car!

great series but

very much enjoying these but a couple of gripes:
with the story: there's too much lingering on unnecessary details. Some would say that builds the world but too often it gets in the way of the story especially during exciting points
with the performance: narration often one-paced and editing doesn't leave a pause between chapters or changes of person-view

Beautiful

My life has changed so much over the year I have read this series not so much the things that are in my life but my outlook on it. With a heavy heart I finish the last book and can confidently say with a tear in my eye this is the best book series I have read in my thousands of hours of reading and listening to them this is the first and likely the last book series that has made me cry at the end and if you are apprehensive about reading a 14 book series I can tell you now that you will not regret it at the end a phenomenal story all the way through with a pair of incredible readers makes these books my favourite of all time.

Second time with Audible

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading's reading is spot on as always, this is one of the better books before "The Slog" and I've enjoyed reading it for the 3rd time.

Good but not great...

This book was smaller than its predecessors in the WOT series, and was the weakest yet on plot-line and content. it was not bad, but a bit rudderless in areas. The biggest flaw was no chapter (not one) regarding Matt - that's a bit clunky. Nevertheless , good but not on the par with the rest do far......

A good edition, though clearly a build up to a greater story!

A very good instalment, though lacking a little. I loved all of Rands and Perrins parts!

Mid-Slump

The performance is great as usual and has remained consistent throughout the series. Unfortunately, this is in the middle of the infamous mid-series slump and pertinent chapters are interspersed throughout so many fillers which really hurts the pacing.
