About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

An extraordinary friendship. A lifetime of stories.

Their last one begins here.

Life is short - no one knows that better than 17-year-old Lenni Petterssen. On the Terminal Ward, the nurses are offering their condolences already, but Lenni still has plenty of living to do.

When she meets 83-year-old Margot Macrae, a fellow patient offering new friendship and enviable artistic skills, Lenni's life begins to soar in ways she'd never imagined.

As their bond deepens, a world of stories opens up: of wartime love and loss, of misunderstanding and reconciliation, of courage, kindness and joy.

Stories that have led Lenni and Margot to the end of their days.

Fiercely alive, disarmingly funny and brimming with tenderness, The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot unwraps the extraordinary gift of life even when it is about to be taken away and revels in our infinite capacity for friendship and love when we need it most.

Beautiful story, I didn’t want it to end

Beautiful story that made me laugh and cry. A gentle tale of two lives both long and short.

I loved the narration, the characters and the style of writing.

An absolute favourite and I will share with all those I love.

Just enjoyable

I’d heard so many great things about this book, so I was really looking forward to listening to it. I thought the performance was good and the story was enjoyable, but it didn’t really draw me in. Maybe I should’ve read it rather than listen to it.

Amazing Narration

Phew, now that I've wiped away my flood of tears I can write my review.

What a wonderful story. So well put together weaving the two lives of the main characters and cleverly capturing the supporting cast.

I'm so glad I listened to the audio version because the narration was superb and added to the overall feeling of the book.

Just Lovely

I laughed, I cried, more than once, and I fell in love with Lenni, Margo, Father Arthur, new nurse, Humphrey, Mina, Jeremy and Davey. All woven into a beautiful story that I shall miss now I’ve finished it. They are characters you will think about think about long after the last page and wish you could thank, one by one, for sharing their story. Highly recommend.
