Summary

Every family has secrets. Would you kill to keep yours?

It’s midnight in the hospital when Jude’s phone rings, interrupting her precious 15-minute break. When she sees it’s her 70-year-old mother, Margaret, she braces herself for the usual complaints. But her blood runs cold at four words that will change everything...‘something terrible has happened.’

Margaret has been accused of an unspeakable crime committed 20 years ago. She insists she’s not guilty, and begs Jude to help her prove it. But as Jude is drawn into the dark secrets of her family’s past, she starts to question whether her mother is really as innocent as she claims to be.

Soon, Jude realises what happened 20 years ago is more entangled with her own life than she could ever have imagined. And as she stands face-to-face with her mother’s accuser, she knows the cost of protecting her family will be someone else’s life...

Lots of twists and turns

Loved the style of writing. The story gripped me from the beginning and held my investment right through and to the end.

The cruelty of the mother

It dragged for a long period. Parts peaked my interest but would soon fizzle out. Fleeting connections. Was performed well. Some good twists but there was a lot of repetition. Not a bad way to pass time.

Gripping story

Loved the audiobook, Found I’d hard to stop listening to the story . Felt the court room part was far fetched , my only criticism

Gripping and well written

Really enjoyed this book. Very well written and with lots of suspense. My first book by this author, and I will definitely listen to more. I did find the ending a little disappointing. I like books that tie up nearly all the threads of the book and offer explanation and resolve for outstanding issues. Sadly I felt I would have like more explanation on the actual guilt of the protagonist, and some solution as to the extremely bizarre behaviour of Margaret. I did, however, very much enjoy the novel , but have been left a little unsatisfied with its conclusion.

Superb Narration … gripping story.

The Narrator was first class. This story had lots of threads to it. Absorbing. This would make a brilliant on screen drama/film.

the fathers child abuse

it was ok, should have gone a bit further with rich and Jude's relationship, it touched on so many things that could have been explored a bit better and Jude just seems a bit wooly

Brilliant book!

I had to leave a review for this as I really enjoyed the story alongside the narration. There were many moments where my mouth dropped after certain revelations. I would highly recommend this audiobook.

The Night She Lied

Brilliant read. Great characters with a powerful ending I never saw coming. Who is the biggest liar?
