About this listen
Almost as breathtaking as the treasures from Sutton Hoo, 14 archive episodes of the long-running topical Radio 4 panel show, chaired by Barry Took, Bill Tidy, Simon Hoggart and Sandi Toksvig.
These valuable editions can be dated to between 1980 and 2012 and tell us much about the headline-grabbing issues, incidents and individuals of yesteryear.
Joining regular panellists Alan Coren, Richard Ingrams, Jeremy Hardy and Andy Hamilton are a treasure trove of guest players including Nigel Dempster, Ian Hislop, Michael Grade, Rory Bremner, Linda Smith, Sue MacGregor, Armando Iannucci, Fred MacAulay, Francis Wheen, Sue Perkins, Josie Long, Hugo Rifkind, Miles Jupp, Sarah Millican, Paul Sinha, John Craven, Gay Search, Tom Wrigglesworth, Susan Calman and many more.
Alongside the regular programmes are three editions of News Quiz of the Year, from 1991, plus the Millennium Special edition first broadcast on New Year's Eve 1999.

BBC News Quiz
Whilst Simon Hoggart was a good host along with Barry Norman. This show certainly raised the bar when Sandi Toksvig took over as host. Superb contributions were continued from the venerable Jeremy Hardy, Francis Wheen, Fred Macaulay & Andy Hamilton. The contribution pool was widened with input from Susan Calman, Miles Jupp & David Mitchell. There are some excellent one-liners but also rants from Bob mills & Mark Steele. More releases from the Toksvig years BBC!

Unfortunately not all Vintage
First 3/4 of this was superb
Unfortunately, once we get to the awful 21st C, things go downhill rapidly
Please issue these in numbered episodes, so I can avoid any with the modern era of lefty twerps who I find about as witty as pig shit and as funny as cancer

Not the best...
Remember the great days of the News Quiz? Well, there are a few good episodes chaired by Barry Took and Simon Hoggart. Unfortunately half are chaired by the dire Sandi Toksvig, under whom the show's sad decline into PC mediocrity began. Such a shame.
