About this listen
"Daddy has been lying."
Faye Townsend has planned the perfect summer trip for her family. But returning to the small seaside town her husband grew up in does not go to plan - the rain pours, and the long days become stifling. And then the unthinkable happens....
Her husband, Jake, and her six-year-old son, Dylan, go for an early morning walk along the beautiful, windswept clifftops. They don’t come back.
As the hours tick by, Dylan’s red baseball cap is found on the beach, and Faye finds herself being questioned by the police. They want to know everything about the man she married - is Faye ready to face her husband’s dark past? Or will she have to confront her own secrets first?
And just how far will a mother go to save her only child?
From the million-copy best-selling author of The Secret Mother and The Perfect Family, this utterly gripping psychological thriller will make you gasp out loud as you race toward the unforgettable twist. If you loved The Girl on the Train and The Wife Before You this book is for you.

Took a while to get into
Enjoyed but did take a while to get into. Certainly not heart stopping in my opinion. Couldn’t relate to the characters to start. The twist I saw coming like with anything once you know there is a twist you consider other possibilities. Overall would recommend. Not the best I have ever listened to nor the worst.

Enjoyable, but...
I enjoyed the first 75% of this book, but I feel that any story in which the epilogue is used to fill in essential details to the plot is lacking in some way! For me, at the end of a book I like to have all the complex strands of plot coming together, not be left with unanswered questions and then given an epilogue explaining what really happened!

Super listen. 10/10.
I actually listened right to the finish!
It was a gripping story ending with a twist that I didnt see coming for one moment. The characters were believable and I actually cared what happened to all of them!
I have to listen to another story of Shalini Boland's to be as invested, hopefully, and I'd love if it was narrated by Katie Villa again!
