The second novel in the record-breaking, million-copy best-selling Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman.

It's the following Thursday.

Elizabeth has received a letter from an old colleague, a man with whom she has a long history. He's made a big mistake, and he needs her help. His story involves stolen diamonds, a violent mobster and a very real threat to his life.

As bodies start piling up, Elizabeth enlists Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron in the hunt for a ruthless murderer. And if they find the diamonds, too? Well, wouldn't that be a bonus?

But this time, they are up against an enemy who wouldn't bat an eyelid at knocking off four septuagenarians. Can the Thursday Murder Club find the killer (and the diamonds) before the killer finds them?

So very, very good

So good to return to such wonderful, fully fledged characters. So well written, so many exciting turns. Such great observations on both the everyday snd the profound. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and would recommend to all.

Better than the first one!

I enjoyed the first Thursday Murder Club but didn’t think it was as great as everyone else seemed to think!
This second instalment, though, was excellent and in my humble opinion was much better than the first one.
Poignant, funny, sad, mysterious and very well written!
Definitely looking forward to the third one now!

Wonderful

Simply wonderful. The characters are so real you can lose yourself in their story. That there is another book coming along is thrilling.

Absolutely brilliant

A beautifully woven plot, characters written with such depth, wit and warmth, and all magically bought to life by some of the best narration I’ve heard. Laugh out loud funny lines in parts, and deep insights into what it means to be alive in others. With a plot that keeps moving along at pace all the way. Loved the first one, loved this second one even more. Thank you Richard Osman - the world is a much better place with you in it. :)

Wonderful!

Even better than the Thursday Murder Club. Hilarious, moving, gentle and clever. Wanted it to last at least a few more days. Can't wait for the next one!

Brilliantly follows the Thursday Murder Club

I love that the characters (Joyce in particular) are developing in a way that is plausible but not always entirely expected.

Multiple plot layers kept me speculating and despite me having thought early on the book that I knew who the key player would turn out to be, I then (foolishly) dismissed that and turned my attention elsewhere. Most enjoyable!

Lesley Manville brings everyone to life with great interpretation and attribution of individual speech and accent features.

I listened to this anywhere I could and, when I had to pause, always looked forward to hearing the next chapters.

I also really enjoyed the Richard Osman and Lesley Manville interview with insights into both the writing and the reading.

Can’t wait for the next audio release. I do hope though that any film portrayal will be true to the book. Lesley Manville would be great in the role of Sue although I would like to see her aged to play Joyce- the unexpected element I think!
