Summary

In my world, magic is an everyday thing.

It's on street corners; it's in our schools; our homes, and even our governments. Magic carpets share the sky with jets, international boxing shares air time with magical duelists. It's a whole mess, but nobody consulted me before outing every mage on the planet.

My twin brother is a Wizard and thinks he's the only magician in the family. It's actually a little funny that he hasn't suspected anything different over the last 17 years - with my constantly need to keep his idiot face out of danger and stupidity - but that's not today's problem. You see, someone's trying to kill him.

It started off with a shadow monster that was all but immune to my magic attacking him at school, and it went steadily downhill from there, meandering through an encounter with a succubus - a species I was told categorically didn't exist anymore - to nearly getting abducted by murderous homeless men and blasted by the government's anti-magic police. And that was just Monday!

Now, I'm trying to help the idiot while also doing my level best to keep him from finding out about my own powers (which are frankly so sinister that I was terrified of my own shadow for the first decade of my life). I have to make sure, in my blundering about, trying to solve a mystery that I can't trust the Supernatural Crimes Authority to investigate correctly, that I don't draw the attention of the people with horrific monsters at their beck and call. Family can be such a pain....

a non spolierish reveiw for the next 6 books

*This is reveiw Covers my general thoughts up to book 6ish with no spoilers* The original premise and first few books are a good listen, very MC driven and eveything that happens is always about him. Its good to see a smart mc woth a logocal side, but i find him hypocritical in his ethics in later books. The world building is fun, has a sprinkle of political scheming in the background but really it's not a crazy deep book in terms of plot or characters. The side characters aren't really given alot of background history or story in any real sense unless they are part of the ever growing harem (And even then its shallow) - Yes it turns out this is a harem (really starts to kick in from book 3), which fair play to anyone that's into that sort of things, but I'm not and it really should have been mentioned - I say harem but ofc the main charat is only into 1 girl at a time with 10 others just kinda thirsting after him always. The constant seuxal harrasment from the FMC's is also jarring and icky, but that also isn't addressed because the Mc dosen't really mind? it's annoying that all sins of a FMC are immediately ignored or forgiven because "she's just so cute/attractive" and be warned, every girl that exists in this book is top level attractive, no expectations lol.

At the end of the day it's a popcorn series with a OP mc who goes through continuous mental torment surrounded by the hotest women alive and (a weirdly large amount of) sex workers all lusting after him, it's fun if you ignore the flaws, but it gets tiring and the harem rabbit hole makes reading it an eye roll experience the more you read, don't think I would have invested in reading if I'd been aware of this from the start.
