what a great conclusion

this fitted in well with what I was expecting for a conclusion and a great end to a binge listen
everything was resolved with a few tears not saying anymore due to spoilers.

After a while I got used to the narration style and then it worked.

I was given a free copy by the author but this didn't impact my review.

"To defend ourselves and the next generation."

Almost a decade has passed since the pandemic wiped out most of the world population. The small group of survivors must look to the future for their next generation and, with increasing threats again, Graham decides to leave on his own and fight back to give them all time.
With very short chapters, each headed by a named group member, the action is easy to follow and the various diverse characters continue to evolve. This is not a book which provides a synopsis of past events so it is definitely recommended that the series is read in order for understanding and enjoyment - this being number seven.

Narration is by Daniel Driml, who becomes the Graham of the series title. His performance is well paced and imbued with the contained emotions of the story. However, the editing is occasionally sloppy, notably a short succession of incorrect attempted readings of one line in chapter 42 which has not been removed. Otherwise, he adds to the enjoyment of the writing.

The story is short, too short, the lead to the ending passing very quickly as if the author just wanted it finished and leaving some questions unanswered. But it was a very good place to conclude. Whilst enjoying the series, I hope that this is the final book: give the survivors now time to live on without more terror dogging their so far ill.fated lives.

My thanks to the rights holder of the (too short) Long Goodbye who, at my request request freely gifted me with a complimentary copy. Enjoyable to all who like post apocalyptic survival stories with good characters and innovative scenarios - but best to start with book one.
