Summary

Little changes can make a big, big difference! In The Little Book of Big Change, psychologist Amy Johnson shows you how to rewire your brain and overcome your bad habits - once and for all.

No matter what your bad habit is, you have the power to change it. Drawing on a powerful combination of neuroscience and spirituality, this book will show you that you are not your habits. Rather, your habits and addictions are the result of simple brain wiring that is easily reversed. By learning to stop bad habits at the source, you will take charge of your habits and addictions for good.

Anything done repeatedly has the potential to form neural circuitry in the brain. In this light, habits and addictions are impersonal brain wiring problems that result from taking your habitual thinking as truth, and acting on that thinking in the form of doing your habit - over and over. This book offers a number of small changes you can make in your everyday life that will help you stop your bad habit in its tracks.

If you want to understand the science behind your habit, make the decision to end it, and commit to real, lasting change, this book will help you to finally take charge of your life - once and for all.

My bible to life!

The best self-help book I have come by. Amy Johnson writes very clearly with very relevant stories to back up her theories. It was super relatable and very simple to understand, which ultimately makes it stick without having to read it over and over again. Thanks Amy!!

...but I have to admit this is the best book on the topic I have listened so far. I could relate with most stuff that was discussed.

A must read for everyone regardless of habit

I had heard Amy talk on various podcasts about habit and mental health and was a bit sceptical as to whether this book could help with my anxiety around food/eating and in general, just because nothing ever has in the past, but if you let it, this book can really help with disruptive/unhelpful thoughts and patterns if you put into practice what Amy preaches.

I will certainly be listening again and again, and putting the advice into action.

Spot on

I really liked this book. It built on what I've been learning about mindfulness and our relationship with our thoughts. I liked its approach, its compassion and the message that we have control over our actions, our own minds, without it being difficult. I liked how it encouraged me to see that my habits were a sign I needed to step back and ask myself if I was okay, rather than the habits making me feel bad. It was great. Thank you.

The mechanics of real change

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I already have! That pretty much says it all....

What did you like best about this story?

It lays out why you do what you do, and how to change what you do which you don't like! It also provides the blueprint to adjust and control your behaviour. A truly valuable skill to master! Brilliant book, Exceptional even. I highly recommend it.
