Summary

‘As comforting as a slice of homemade apple pie’ Red

Prepare to fall in love with beautiful village of Burley Bridge.

Growing up in a quiet Yorkshire village, Roxanne couldn’t wait to escape and find her place in the world in London. As a high-powered fashion editor she lives a glamorous life of perennial singlehood – or so it seems to her sister Della. But when Roxanne gets her heart broken by a fashion photographer, she runs away, back to Della’s welcoming home above her bookshop in Burley Bridge.

But Burley Bridge, Roxanne discovers, is even quieter than she remembered. There’s nothing to do, so Roxanne agrees to walk Della’s dog Stanley. It’s on these walks that Roxanne makes a startling discovery: the people who live in Burley Bridge are, well, just people – different from the fashion set she’s used to, but kind and even interesting. Michael, a widower trying to make a go of a small bakery, particularly so. Little by little, cupcake by cupcake, Roxanne and Michael fall into a comforting friendship.

Could there be a life for Roxanne after all, in the place she’s spent years trying to escape?

The perfect cosy, heartwarming read for fans of Trisha Ashley.

A good romance to pass away some relaxation time.

As usual, they all live happily ever after. A nice easy read novel to curl up with. The ending seemed rather hurried which is why I dropped a star but overall, a good read for the romance inclined. Beautifully narrated by Katie Scarfe.

Fabulous but not long enough!

I was absolutely shocked when I heard, "the end", uttered...no wayyyy...it can't be over yet, it's just begun! I say this in a complimentary way and also by way of complaint.
I will now be looking to see if there is a continuation somewhere (there appears to be two other books with Rosemary Lane in the title).
The story was marvellous and well narrated. My favourite Audible moment was at the beginning of this story when the main character drops her coffee in the office while everyone is doing yoga, such a comical moment I had to rewind to hear again!

A soup and crusty bread story

I wasn't sure I liked this story to begin with but by the e nd, realised that I had! I will be looking out to see whether this author has any more titles.

Catching up with friends

This is the 2nd book I've read by Ellen Berry and this will sound very cliche, I know, but it's like sitting with friends and having a catch-up especially as this time it was through audible!
Fingers crossed there'll be a 3rd to follow.
