About this listen

A fun, fast, fantastical listen: After an altercation with a clown, I get lost in the woods and find a strange town. When the librarian of the town dies in front of me, I try on his ring. It fits. I’m declared the new librarian by the mayor and townspeople. I get to live in a houseful of books. But I soon learn the job involves more than just tomes and information. In fact, my first assignment is to discover who murdered my predecessor.

Meanwhile, I learn that the town is a whole lot stranger than I’d first thought and I’d thought it was pretty strange from the first. The library has a ghoul and a ghost, which seems excessive. Not everyone in the town of Eden is alive or even human. A headless seductress (she carries her head around with her) propositions me, but may also be trying to kill me.

Honestly, I have some secrets of my own. After aging out of foster care, I hit the road. At first, I just drift; then I begin to get messages in dreams that direct me to places where people need the kind of help I can give them. I learn many things. One of the things I learn is I am the One. The only problem is that I am not that One. I’m the other One. The One who will bring destruction.

I enjoyed the narration of Michael Gilboe

Eden, is a town with supernatural surprises, quirky characters. This book has humour, and full of character

Yes it is definitely strange!

I enjoyed this, it is a humorous paranormal story. It is described as Strangely Scary Funny. It is definitely strange, not really scary but it is quite funny.
The central character, the narrator, is a drifter who is directed by 'voices' to visit places where he can help people. But then he arrives at the town of Eden, a very strange paranormal town, which it seems impossible to leave, at least alive.
The librarian dies in front of him and he somehow finds himself appointed the new librarian, which seems to be a dubious honour as none of the previous holders of the job seem to have lasted very long before dying.
There are lots of strange things happening and our hero (?) seems to be adapting to his new life, where he meets and, mainly, helps the other people in the town.
There are lots of interesting characters, including some very amusing teenagers and they are all voiced very well in the narration.

Supernaturally Quirky

This book is everything that it says it is supernaturally quirky, funny and with a strange cast of characters. I enjoyed this story. A male lead in a cozy mystery is a first for me. I am defiantly going to be reading more in this series.
The narration is great.
