Summary
Tragedy befalls the esteemed Lancaster family as 12 adopted siblings bid farewell to their elderly father. Thanks to him, they have all been groomed for success in a variety of fields - debating, marksmanship, and fencing, to name a few. However, a dark creed in their family’s ancient tradition brings out the worst in them.
The siblings find themselves pitted against one another in a winner-take-all competition for survival as they are locked within their colossal mansion. Mysteries are uncovered around every corner of their home. Death is an unfortunate certainty. The 12 struggle on whether to unite, or to eliminate each other until only one remains to inherit the family legacy. Who will be the first to perish? Who will be next? In this family, there can only be one survivor in The Leviathan Trial....

Most Entertaining listen.
This was a most interesting and entertaining listen. The story was different to say the least and reminded me of an up to date William Golding, Lord of the flies with 12 young people stranded in a mansion after the death of the adoptive father. After a bit of a slow start in which I found I was losing a bit of interest the book took off and ended up as one of those hard to put down things. Highly recommend listen well narrated and with plenty of different voices from a talented narrator I highly recommend this title.
I given this copy of the book and leave this voluntary and honest review. *****

“Only his arm protruded from his sandwich tomb of bookcases”
I hadn’t come across this author or narrator previously and so wasn’t sure what to expect, but right from the start I was hooked.
A really gripping, intense mystery, adventure pulled with great characters and peril. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in the same day!
Great narration too, with great character voices he really brings out the atmosphere of the book!
I really hope there’s more to come from this pairing!
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

A modern day Lord of the Flies
The 12 adopted children of one of the richest men in the world are devastated when their adoptive father dies, leaving them all alone in the huge gothic mansion where they live. They all expect a cut of the will when it is read, but they are to be sorely disappointed. Only one will survive the Leviathan Trial which their father had planned for them before his death. With all means of escape and communication blocked, which of them has the wits and skills to defeat and kill their bretheren? A new take on the the Lord of the Flies idea, brought up to date with modern technology. A gripping read, excellently narrated. One minor negative though are the few weird past partciples used by the author, which are quite jarring when listening.

Loved it
The Leviathan Trial is a very gripping and interesting listen. The story starts with 12 siblings by adoption, whose father passes away and only 1 can inherit their father's fortunes. The story goes through dark tones and unexpected events as each sibling goes through their own conflict, struggles, and mysteries, while we learn about each sibling and their particular skills as well.
Would definitely recommend
