About this listen
The myth of Deer Woman teaches a lesson on respect. The legend of Crazy Horse illuminates a lesson on humility. And the story of Eagle brings home the importance of compassion. These stories from the heart of Lakota culture and its survival, and their meanings, still resonate deeply with our daily lives.
Rich with storytelling, history, folklore, and Marshall's own personal experiences, The Lakota Way expresses the heart of Native American philosophy and the 12 core qualities that are crucial to the Lakota way of living: bravery, fortitude, generosity, wisdom, respect, honor, perseverance, love, humility, sacrifice, truth, and compassion.
Compelling and profound, The Lakota Way gives a fresh outlook to those searching for a new perspective on spiritual and ethical living.

Heart-Wisdom
Where does The Lakota Way rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of my top favourite audiobooks
What about Joseph M. Marshall’s performance did you like?
The narrator's voice is soothing and leaves time for his words to penetrate
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book begins with a story about coping with bullying that is beautifully simple and full of wisdom. I look forward to sharing this story with some of the children I work with who struggle with bullying at school.

A Book that needed to be written.
Great to find a book that gives good solid information on the way of the Lakota. A good balance of anecdotal, and folkloric writing as well as author insight into the modern day struggle of a spiritual people on a day by day basis. This book tells it like it is and would benefit anyone who is struggling to maintain a lifestyle that sometimes goes in direct conflict with modern life values.

Awesome
I love listening to Joseph's voice and the recounting of the native peoples lives and events. I've never been to the USA but feel a deep empathy to the native people s non the less. This is a beautiful book.

informative
loved it the words of wisdom were very soothing a lot of the suffering was hard to listen to, but the narrator's attitude was in no way bitter about what befell his people. The myths and legends were very simplistic as the old way of life for the Lakota must have been❤

Enjoyed listening to this book very much.
Joseph M Marshall reads this book perfectly. His style is conversational and not rushed, allowing time to reflect on what has been described. The content is essential and a great demonstration on survival and reflection.

Hope and Compassion
I can't get enough of the voice of the author. He reads as if he is speaking the words for the first time.

Like being read to by your favourite teacher!
Listened to this while I was decorating my house and in desperate need of inspiration. Lakota Folklore, a few modern tales & interesting historical events are woven together seamlessly. Plus Joseph Marshall has an amazingly resonant, calming voice! Took me right back to story time at school! My favourite time of day. Great for adults & older children too.

Wonderful book 📖 👌
Beautiful narration. It feels like an honour to be invited into these sacred tales. The stories hold so much magic, romance and heart. The culture of Native America shines on. We cannot forget how real democracies should function. Thank you for existing and having the fortitude to be here. 🙏 🙏 🙏
