Born in London in the forties, James Herbert was art director of an advertising agency before turning to writing fiction in 1975. His first novel, The Rats, was an instant best-seller and is now recognised as a classic of popular contemporary fiction. Herbert went on to publish a new top ten best-seller every year until 1988. He wrote six more bestselling novels in the 1990s and three more since: Once, Nobody True and The Secret of Crickley Hall. Herbert died in March 2013 at the age of 69.

Great story , maybe a re edit tho?
there's nothing wrong at all with the story or the performance , just a couple of bad chapter changes and one repeated paragraph

Not the best James Herbert, and not a great narrator
This narrator has a weirdly unnatural style which I didn’t enjoy.
The story was ok, but definitely not one of the better James Herbert books.

Just about ok
Not the best James Herbert books , but It was included with audible, quite a weak story , but just about kept me interested

Supernatural or Crime Story?
This is my first James Herbert novel and while it held me to the end, it was more determination than anything else.
I'm not sure that there will be a second one for me.
It got it hard to decide whether it was horror or crime and much of it is unexplained.

Another great from JH
Great story,but sadly let down a bit by narrator.. ... .seemed to be read sentance by sentance,instead of flowing paragraphs.
Would love to hear this read by someone with better narration qualities

Predictable & Factually Incorrect.
Okay first off the narration, Damien Lynch did the VA for Herbert's Fluke and it worked but his voice isn't imo sutable fir more serious works. To me he always sounds like he is reading us a children's story.
The story itself is full of incorrect information, specially when he talks about narcotics. You would think an author of this calibre would research and fact check.
The entire tale I was predicting what was going to happen next and 9 times out of ten I was correct. The sex scenes were just cringe.
One of Herbert's weaker efforts.
