About this listen
An utterly heartwarming love story that will make you laugh and cry, fans of The Flatshare, The Hating Game and movies like The Holiday will fall head over heels for The House Swap.
When Cassie and James find each other on a home swap website, it feels meant to be. City hotshot James needs a bolthole after a relationship goes sour, and Cassie needs to leave the comfort of her little island to research her new book. Soon, James is living in Cassie’s cute but ramshackle beachside cottage, and Cassie’s living in James’ London apartment. It’s the perfect solution. Except James didn’t imagine he’d be sharing his home with 11 chickens and three alpacas. And Cassie is less than impressed when James’ ex-girlfriend turns up at his door, demanding to know where he’s gone. The more Cassie and James talk, the more the tension between them mounts. But as the insults fly so do the sparks, and when the time finally comes to swap back, Cassie and James find they aren’t quite ready to give each other up.

A charming story, although a little predictable
Really easy listening. The story of a house swap, gaining a fresh start and outlook on two very different lives, who soon realise there is more on offer if only you can adapt to new surroundings, take risks and break down some of your own barriers.
A little predictable. But very charming and funny, and thoroughly enjoyed.

Sweetness overload
Such a sweet, clean love story. Truly enjoyed it. The story was great as well as the writing. The characters came off as very mature and loving and their story felt, all problems aside, still really smooth. A really gorgeous romance. 🥰
Had some issues with the narration. The time jumps lacked pauses to set them up and sometimes it felt like the sentences got chopped up which made me trip up on the storyline and had to think a little extra to get the context. A lot of it was still good though so could set the issues aside. 😉

Enjoyable story, slightly stilted narration.
I really liked the story, the characters and settings of these books but the narration by McNeill is very stilted and almost juddery, almost as is there is a full stop after every word. I do love her accent however and the tone of her voice.

Lovely heartwarming story
This was a lovely heartwarming love story. Needed a break from crime and thrillers, this was definitely that break it was funny and romantic I loved all the characters especially the lead characters finished it in no time and was gutted it came to an end. The Narrators were good although the odd character sounded a bit stilted. It must be hard trying to sound different for each character. All in all i thoroughly enjoyed this novel. 😊

An excellent, if predictable story.
Loved the characters, they jumped off the page: the independent Cassie and workaholic James. Everything was great, except the female narration. She spoke like there was a full stop after every word.
Her accent was great, but diction was awful.

3 Stars🌟🌟🌟 A LOVELY LISTEN
TRIGGER WARNING 🚨MISCARRIAGE DISCUSSED
This was such a charming book, a real lovely listen although it did mention serious subjects, which helped understand the characters better. It was definitely Chicklit and I do love that!I
The female narrator could have been better at her job though, I felt she was not performing the story but reading out a letter which is not good if Voice Artist/Narrator is your job.
This book was FREE to listen to through the Plus Catalogue included membership which is a bonus because I do recommend this listen.

Beautiful story
I love the utterly outward calm and "let's get on with business" attitude of Cassie, she is sweet and completely likable. James is a truly lovely guy, who was understandably nervous, as she was, but I'm glad he opened up to Cassie. A lovely story.

Great story, not so great narration
I’m ashamed to say that despite listening to several audiobooks a week, I rarely write a review. And this audiobook was a lovely light hearted listen, probably not one that will stick with me for a long time but I did enjoy it. However, it was spoilt for me by the narrators, particularly the female narrator. It just didn’t flow properly and it seemed that any punctuation marks had been ignored. But it does say something for the book though that had I not been enjoying so much and wanting to know what happened with Cassie & James in the end, my irritation would’ve won over and I’d have given up.
But if you are a better person than I am and less prone to irritation then you probably won’t even notice.

Good story, poor narration
Great book, but the edit of the narration was very poor. The spacing between sentences/paragraphs was very disjointed which ruined the flow.
