About this listen
The Scottish Highlands, 1816.
Lady Sybil Lacey is every inch an English woman. She’s horrified her best friend is wedding a barbarian Scot. For aren’t Scots naught but brutish, whiskey-swilling lechers? So to find herself secretly attracted to the tall and devastatingly handsome Scottish laird of Bedlay Castle is quite disconcerting....
Liam MacBride is convinced that English ladies are silly sassenachs who think of nothing but social events and clothes. So why is he intensely drawn to Lady Sybil? All they do is quarrel...until loathing turns into undeniable lust.
A tempestuous, fiery romance between an English lady and a Scottish laird cannot end well.

Great listen
This was an easy listen, which did make me laugh in places, also not too heavy on the sex, just right.

Lovely book with depth and sweetness
This book was amazin! Being able to handle such a modern (all though at the same time ancient) issue, in a way that felt true and believable to the time is a true skill. Doing it in a book this short and still making it feel like a book twice its length even more so. Such a well written story with great character development and heartfelt passionate moments. Yheonly thing bringing it down a bit for me was the narration. Don’t get me wrong. The accents were greatly performed but it disturbed me that pretty much the entire thing was read with a breathless over the top dramatic voice like a debutante caught walking in on a compromising situation. I prefer the narration more down to earth and grounded but the story was so great I still could look past it. Truly recommend this one.

Wonderful romance
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. What wonderful characters. Lady Mc Bride was a brilliantly aggravating lady indeed.

Don’t miss this one!!
This is my first historical romance in decades-yes decades! And I’m well and truly blown away. Aside from sharing the same first name as the heroine, I loved this story. It captured so much of history and felt true it’s time.
I’m not a fan of 3rd person writing for Romance but it was easy to get into and the narrator did an excellent job. Highly recommend this title and I’m off to find more audiobooks in this series.

No depth whatsoever
A very bland story with shallow, uninteresting characters. No development of character, no plot to speak of.
Narration is okay but unremarkable (the author should probably take the blame).
The title ‘Duke of Manchester’ sounds particularly jarring.

Not for me!
The story was interesting but the narrator was not for this story reading. The well spoken voice did not sound so well spoken!
