Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

As a species, we've never had it so good. We're living longer and healthier lives than ever before; the sum of human knowledge and endless entertainment are only ever a few clicks away.

So why are we in the midst of a mental health crisis?

The Happiness Cure offers a radical new way to think about fulfilment. Blending neuroscientific research and empirical breakthroughs with stories of ordinary individuals, leading psychiatrist and viral TedX speaker Dr Anders Hansen reveals that by adopting an evolutionary take on life, we can re-set our perspective on happiness to find longer-term meaning and lasting contentment.

Great insight about our brain (the whys)

Loved every bit. It is a great book if you’re curious and like facts and stats.

It mainly goes through the reasons why our brain works the way it does…it reveals why there are so many “shouldn’t” in our lives and helps you understand the normality of it all.

Really looking forward to the next tittle from Dr Hansen!

An uplifting and inspiring read.

I would advise everyone to read this whatever their state of mind. It consists of science-based insights and so is no condescending self-help manual but a hugely informative and positive read from which any human being would benefit.

Fantastic

This book is extremely insightful, inspiring and helpful. Not only is the book understandable, but it offers different perspectives that you may have never previously thought of before, backed up by scientific research. It also offers helpful advice that you can take on board and use to reflect on your own experiences. If you are thinking of reading this book, don’t think twice!

Review

I loved this book, it’s so easy to relate to all the examples which are given in such an interesting way. Both authors contribute to the narration which is easy to listen to. Very often these kind of books get a bit heavy going in places, but I found myself wanting to drive more slowly to work to listen to more of the book. Highly recommend.

This is a magnificent well researched and thoroughly enjoyable book. The insights are so revealing and relevant you can’t help but write them down for future reference. It is absolutely recommended for everyone to read this book abs finally inch closer towards our psychological well-being in this era. The narration was also fantastic
