About this listen

Pongo is a young and mischievous gorilla living in the mountains of Africa. He wants to grow up to be brave and clever like his dad, and perhaps even become leader of the pack one day.

But it is not until his little sister, Whoopsie, is born that Pongo discovers that growing up isn't just about having a big chest to thump! Can he prove that he isn't as young and irresponsible as everyone thinks?

Great story!

I liked this story because it’s good for sense of humour and is very fun.
It would be good for 5 to 8 Yrs old and teaches children about how important it is to help animals.

Lovely story for kids and grown ups alike

I bought this for my daughter to listen to at bed time and she has listened to it over and over again. Great stories, Maureen Lipman is a lovely narrator. I would recommend this for any age.

One of Tomlinson's best

I found it a very satisfying story, with interesting intense moments. I liked the voices given to the characters too. I liked how pongo became the leader. - Finn age 8

I liked all of it, but especially how the gorillas helped each other. - Ronan age 5

This story has been enjoyed by all of my 7 children over the years. I never tire of it myself. We have really enjoyed the readings of Maureen Lipman, so combined with a favourite story this was a winner for us.
