About this listen

West Golden - so easy to hate, yet so hard to resist.

Don’t let that pretty face of his fool you. He isn’t the boy next door, or the kind you trust with your heart. He’s the devil in designer jeans, with all the charm of a bona fide psycho.

Trust me.

He swears I did something to cross him before I even stepped foot inside Cypress Prep, but it’s a lie. No one knows better than me that I’m all out of chances. One more misstep and I can kiss my future goodbye, which means I can’t possibly be guilty of whatever he thinks I’ve done.

West marks me with a target anyway, and as this town’s football star, no one dares to go against him. His money, status, and the loyalty of his equally entitled brothers makes him seem untouchable. Only, I know better than that.

This false god isn’t infallible like he wants the world to believe. Whenever I stare into those devilish green eyes, I see it plain as day. The chink in his armor. His one and only weakness.

Me.

The King of Cypress Prep has finally met his match, and taking him down just became an inside job.

***
The Golden Boys are all smokin’ hot, but there’s only one guy for Blue Riley, which means this romance isn’t a reverse harem. Also, full disclosure, this saga does contain strong bully themes. So, if you’re not into romances where hate turns into love (well...eventually), and if you don’t like your heroes of the unapologetically alpha variety, this might not be the book for you. There is no rape or dubious consent whatsoever. However, due to adult themes and sexual situations, this one’s only for the 18+ crowd.

This series is sure to give you Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill vibes, and the angst will keep you burning to find out what happens next. One-click and get lost in this series today!

I really loved the gossip girl vibes that we got during this book. All three narrators did an amazing job and the characters felt very real to me.

It took me a little while to finish listening to this, I am not sure why but it gave me quite a bit of anxiety and it felt SO slow at first. After about hour 3 it really picked up from me and I enjoyed it from there. So much so, that I have already gone to my kindle unlimited and read the second one 😂.

Overall, it is a good book and I think the second is even better then the first so it is definitely a series worth reading.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review.

A Must Read/Listen

The Golden Boys by Rachel Jonas and Nikki Thorne is a dark high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Neill Thorne, Lessa Lamb, and Sarah Puckett.

The book does come with a warning/caution "The Golden Boys are all smokin’ hot, but there’s only one guy for Blue Riley, which means this romance isn’t a reverse harem. Also, full disclosure, this saga does contain strong bully themes. So, if you’re not into romances where hate turns into love (well … eventually), and if you don’t like your heroes of the unapologetically alpha variety, this might not be the book for you. There is no rape or dubious consent whatsoever. However, due to adult themes and sexual situations, this one’s only for the 18+ crowd."

This is the first book of Rachel and Nikki's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was hooked from the very beginning. I loved that the book kept me on my toes. The back and forth between Blue and West is so hot and twisted!

The book does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn't much of a surprise since its the first book in the series. I can't wait for the next book to be released on audio so I can get more of Blue and West...and well of course Dane and Sterling.

The narration was PERFECT! Sarah's voice was perfect for Pandora. It was exactly how I pictured the character when I had read the book. Lessa did an amazing job bringing Blue to life. I loved how Neill brought all the golden boys to life with different tones/voices.

I would highly recommend this book if you like bully romances, dark romances, or contemporary romances. This is a MUST READ series!

So good

Welcome to Cypress prep enter at your own risk especially if you’re from the wrong side of town. Blue wasn’t prepared for the crazy she was about to get from West Golden and has no idea why he feels so much anger towards her but if he thinks he’ll win he better think again as she’s no pushover. Loved listening to this and I need book 2 now the 3 narrators are perfect they really brought the characters to life. audibookobsession , pinkflamingoproductions

Get this!

What a ride this is, this new series started in the best way possible, with brilliant characters, a plotline that will have you hooked from the start, a slow burn that will make you beg for more, and all the twists and turns you never see coming. A strong girl and the guy who is such a bully and that has so many secrets that you just need to read to get him. Full of angst and turmoil that I want the next one now! The audiobook narrated by Neill Thorn, Lessa Lamb, and Sarah Pucket is brilliant, I strongly suggest you check it out and consider hearing the story from these fantastic artists.

Brilliant

A brilliant and exciting, well written storyline. This is an intense bully romance with lots of mysterious twists and turns leaving you wanting more. The sexual tension is addictive and leaves you on the edge of your seat.
Pandoras' podcasts are a delightful extra dimension to this story and I cannot wait for the next book.
The talented dual narrators really bring this book to !ife, their voices suit the characters making it easy to keep up with who we are focussing on at that time.

Golden

Brilliant narration from Neill Thorne, Lessa Lamb, Sarah Puckett

The story has a lot of angst and really draws on your emotions. There is so much going on. Lots of steam, emotions, bullying, friendships .
Blue and Scarlet's. mother leaves them with a uncaring alcoholic father and their older brother has been locked up for a heinous crime.

AUDIO 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
BOOK 🌟🌟🌟

I loved the audio they all did a great job.

It took me ages to get into this one and then the ending. I just felt like I was missing something. I did enjoy it by the end and will need to finish the trilogy which I did not know it was.

I think it was unclear that it wasn’t a stand alone within the series.

Love to Hate to Love You

The Golden Boys is book one of the Kings of Cypress Prep series, a dark HS Bully romance and also the first book I’ve read by either author.

Blue, the responsible girl from the wrong side of the tracks, earns a scholarship to the Prep school on the nice side of town. She just wants to graduate and go to college and make something out of herself so she can take care of her little sister. Instead she becomes the target of the school's Golden Boys.

West, King Midas of the Golden Boys, lays eyes on Blue at a party and can’t believe it when the new school year starts and she’s right there just for him. However, West also found something over the summer, something that causes him to torment Blue.

There’s a lot of push and pull with these two, but you know what they say “I love to hate you and hate to love you”.

Loved the nod towards Gossip Girl with P’s little synopsis at the end of each chapter.

The narrators - Neill Thorne, Lessa Lamb & Sarah Puckett all did a great job bringing the story to life.

Recommended for those HS Bully lovers. I will be continuing the series.

I received an Audio ARC and decided to leave an honest review.

My Thoughts on The Golden Boys

This book was the start of what seems like it will be one heck of a series. It’s all kinds of bully romance goodness. West Golden is definitely a leading man you’ll love to hate, and yet circle right back to love many times throughout the story. Blue on the other hand, I just loved her. I had so much fun, that kind of fun and enjoyment all book lovers get when they are experiencing a good book. I enjoyed listening to their back and forth, even when I sometimes felt West went way too far. I appreciate the way the author put important things out from the beginning so at least we know some of the whys. There were still a lot of unanswered questions I was waiting for more details about as I listened. I really enjoyed the Gossip Girl vibe to the story though. The little updates that had me asking the same questions I did while watching that show. Who the heck is this person and how do they know so much?

The narrators did such a great job with this story. Lessa Lamb in particular really stood out in this one for me. She sounds like she was meant to play this strong, caring, loyal, and tough character. I’m looking forward to checking out more of her work after hearing this one. Neill Thorne and Sarah Puckett also contributed heavily to the excellent listening experience that this was and now I desperately wish that book two was out on audio already but know that I will be all over it as soon as it is.

The Golden Boys

Talk about a bully romance! This book sucked me in and I don’t think I ever want to find my way out. Such amazing, strong and stubborn characters that have to deal with so much and still I feel they must still be a bit clueless about other things. This book is amazing and all I have to say now is please let the next book come out soon!!
