About this listen

Are you relentlessly curious and creative, always willing to rock the boat in order to get things done...extremely energetic and focused, yet constantly switching gears...intensely sensitive, able to intuit subtly charged situations and decipher others' feeling? If these traits sound familiar, then you may be an Everyday Genius - an ordinary person of unusual vision who breaks the mold and isn't afraid to push progress forward....

As thought-provoking as Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence, psychologist Mary-Elaine Jacobsen's The Gifted Adult draws on a wide range of groundbreaking research and her own clinical experience to show America's 20 million gifted adults how to identify and free their extraordinary potential. The Gifted Adult presents the first practical tool for rating your Evolutionary Intelligence Quotient through an in-depth personality-type profile.

Demystifying what it means to be a gifted adult, this book offers practical guidance for eliminating self-sabotage and underachievement, helping Everyday Geniuses and those who know, love, and work with them to understand and support the exceptional gifts inherent in these unique personality traits.

Amazing Content but hard to follow

This is a real challenge. The content is rich and highly relevant. But the ‘audio edit’ and narration much less so. I’m going to have to get the book and re-listen. It’s worth it, but harder work than many Audible titles

Very insightful for gifted adults or those wondering about themselves

There is a lot of validation, explanation, self reflection & encouragement within this piece of work.

As an audiobook the lists of traits in the too much, too little or balanced descriptions was extremely boring to listen to in audio. I imagine it's a benefit in paperback but I felt the audiobok was very long & repetative.

There are quotes relating to God or very US based. That might irritate the non-religious internationals.

I would recommend this book for adults wondering or in doubt about if they are gifted. Perhaps they weren't a great student or lack the life markers of success.
Maybe its a very recent revelation. This book explores all aspects and relevant life areas of giftedness both the gifts and burdens.

I do not like reading but some chapters would be better in text. There's a chapter talking about mathematical options & opportunities...awful to listen to.

It's also not something to listen to in the car or binge listening but would be great along side some journalling. It will provoke something in you in terms of self discovery, understanding & acceptance.

The content is great, the narrator is clear but I'm not enjoying the audio as I normally would whilst multitasking or commuting etc.

It doesn't flow like a story would. If you are 2e (twice exceptional, gifted and neurodivergent or other learning differences) some of the content will not resonate. One example is excellent memory , recall & literacy skills, I don't have those traits, which I'm sure is very commonly diverse.

Perhaps it is an assumption giftedness has common traits or perhaps you should adapt the content to suit you as it is acknowledges we are all different. It really attempts to be straight forward and practical which I agree is most important in a book like this.

Life-edifying

Great narration. Life-wisdom to avoid self-destructive tendencies. Worth every moment of it. And it’s free!

Narrated by Microsoft Sam’s wife

Terrible book with terrible boring content. Impossible to listen to for a longer duration because the narrator is extremely robotic.
