Summary

They say the Messiah is alive. He is living in New York. Sleeping with men. Impregnating women. Euthanasing the dying, healing the sick. Defying the government and condemning the holy. If you met him.... and he changed your life... would you believe?

Be moved, be enraged, be enthralled by this extraordinary masterpiece. James Frey isn't like other writers. He's been called a liar. A cheat. A con man. He's been called a saviour. A revolutionary. A genius. He's been sued by readers. Dropped by publishers because of his controversies. Berated by TV talk-show hosts and condemned by the media. He's been exiled from America and driven into hiding. He's also a best-selling phenomenon, published in 38 languages and beloved by readers around the world. What scares people about Frey is that he plays with truth; that fine line between fact and fiction. Now he has written his greatest work, his most revolutionary, his most controversial. The Final Testament of the Holy Bible.

What would you do if you discovered the Messiah were alive today? Living in New York. Sleeping with men. Impregnating young women. Euthanizing the dying, and healing the sick. Defying the government, and condemning the holy. What would you do if you met him? And he changed your life. Would you believe? Would you?

The Final Testament of the Holy Bible. It will change you. Hurt you. Scare you. Make you think differently. Live differently. Enrage you. Offend you. Open your eyes to the world in which we live. We've waited 2,000 years for the Messiah to arrive. We've waited 2,000 years for this book to be written. He was here. The Final Testament of the Holy Bible is the story of his life.

The Final James Frey I will read

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It wasn't wasted time and I did enjoy it

Would you ever listen to anything by James Frey again?

I've read A million little pieces (brilliant) and My friend Leonard (Even better) but this just didn't come up to those standards

What aspect of the narrators’s performance might you have changed?

Some of the narratives were just too long, I got bored and though "yeah, yeah... get on with it" . A couple were VERY annoying, the way they spoke and the amount of swearing. It detracted from the storyline somewhat.

Do you think The Final Testament of the Holy Bible needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

One would be possible but I wouldn't read it

Any additional comments?

If you like Frey it doesn't follow that you will like this book. It's a little disjointed and the characters don't have any 'reason' to be there, why those particular people ? The bulk of the book was just 'there' the flow didn't seem right to me. No identifyable Beginning- middle- end really. I'm just disappointed in this book !

Another triumph for Frey

If you are a fan of James Frey you will not be disappointed. An intriguing and hard hitting book that definitely makes you think. An interesting perspective on the world and how we treat people. Performed wonderfully and thoroughly engaging.

Superb

One of the most engaging books I have ever listened to. absolutely spellbinding, and a string of excellent performances from the many narrators, though I preferred the parts delivered by the more a-religious characters. Very good throughout, however, and highly recommended.
