"Gleaming threads of rainbow light. "
Thirteen stories varying in length form just under three minutes to almost two hours. And all quite stunning, confronting and comforting life and death, hopes and fears, psychological, mythical, mystical and memories. Several read almost like poetry and almost all quickly take hold of the reader's imagination and keep them secure to the story's end.
Four of the titles previously appeared in Angel Stories, but all are good to hear again, leaving a further nine to enjoy for the first time.
The titles included are:
- My Father's Hands
- It's in the Blood
- MElancHOLY
- Sunset Beach
- East of East of Eden, 1
- East of East of Eden, 2
- The Fat Man Gets Out of Bed
- My Angel Comes
- Above...all Seems Desolate
- The End of All Things
- A Slice of Perfection
- Memories to Treasure
- The Dust Bunny
- The City.
The title story is dark, bleak, beautiful and unexpectedly poignant and worth purchasing for thoroughly story alone. But my favourite has to be the second from last, The Dust Bunny, replete with human self obsession one the morning an academic awakes to the consider a paper he intends to present to a gathering of his perrs. At times laugh out loud funny, the whole is a glorious romp.
Narrator David Bosco performs each story well, helping to further elevate enjoyment, his pleasant voice following the contours of the text with understanding and nicely subdued emotion. It is advisable, however to Not read the entire book in one sitting but to pace it over several days to allow for each story to be absorbed and fully enjoyed.
My thanks to the rights holder who made this book freely available, at my request, a complimentary copy being gifted via Free Audiobook Codes.
Unusual, sometime melancholic, always beautifully written - highly recommended.

Fantastic narration, but...
Fantastic narration, but the book didn't give the narrator the justice he deserved from his performance. It was too much of a mixed bag.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
