Summary

The Red Knight's final battle lies ahead...but there's a whole war still to fight first.

He began with a small company, fighting the dangerous semi-mythical creatures that threatened villages, nunneries and cities. But as his power - and his forces - grew, so the power of the enemy he stood against became ever clearer. Not the power of men...but that of gods, with thousands of mortal allies.

Never has strategy been more important, and this war will end where it started: at Lissen Carak. But to get there means not one battle but many - to take out the seven armies which stand against them and force Ash, the huge black dragon, to finally take to the field himself....

epic ending

at one point I thought it will never end, especially in the last few chapters when they get lost trying to get back home.
great book in the end.

I love this series.

I have not found a series yet that lives up to the traitors son. truly fantastic.
having finished the last book, I am so grateful to the author, but I also mourn it's end.

Loved it

Fantastic storytelling and narration. One of my favourite all time series. Loved every single minute.

Epic!!

Really enjoyed the series but the massive sprawling scale was at times hard to follow. Fantastic characters, fantastic beasts and magical scenes, punctuated by the casual deaths of many characters who, under different authors may have received a hero’s end. Nonetheless, spent more than a few hours immersed in the series. Great battle scenes and action sequences!! My main gripe is the change in Narrator after book 2. Bad Tom went from a hardy Southerner to a deranged Geordie!! Will leave it a few years before I come back to this on due to the sheer hours it took to listen!!

More of the same

I love Christian Cameron's work. I loved the first book of the series. I like the practical description of pre-modern fighting and yes the morals of knighthood extol me to be better ( as soon as I get my bottom out of bed and stop listening )
But the last two books are like russian dragon dolls - behind each dragon there is another dragon...
- so I really only listened to the last chapter of each.

Not a great end for the final book in the seeiea

I was disappointed by this final book it was not as good as the other books on the series. Having said that I would still recommend that you persevere to the end.

Not the best in what has been a fantastic series

I loved this series which grew better and better as it develiped but felt the last book do the rest justice. Mybe it was high hopes and expections but there was too much time on newer characters i didnt care about and seemed yo be to mach space on minor events..small details and list of who wad there. The overall plot sailed on well though i just wish there had been more focus. I wasnt bothered about ypunder brother and Irenes struggles and dont think it added. That said this was a great series.
