Summary
The only way to free her sister is to make a deal with a dragon…
In a city where brutal elves reign, with powerful dragon shifters as their henchmen, street thief Saskia’s only hope to rescue her sister lies with the gruff dragon shifter, Castor. He needs someone to pull off a heist of mysterious item, and she’s the only one desperate enough to do it. With Castor’s help, she’s able to save her sister—but now she owes him a dangerous debt.
To pay him back, Saskia embarks on a perilous mission to infiltrate the palace as a lady's maid. As she navigates the treacherous world of elf nobility, Saskia becomes entangled in palace politics and finds herself drawn to an elvish scholar, despite the dragon's warning. But now, Saskia’s bargain has put her in the sights of the sinister elven Empress Eirana.
In order to survive—and to protect the brusque dragon shifter who means more to her than she’s ready to admit—Saskia must face off against a centuries-old empress, whose dark powers can destroy an entire kingdom.
In a world teeming with magic and political intrigue, Saskia must find the strength within herself to navigate false alliances, uncover the truth, and forge her own destiny.

Wonderfully woven book with seamless POV storyline
The Dragon's Thief is a fascinating book set in the world of the elves. Humans and dragons alike are servants or barely beyond acknowledgement in the world of the elves. Dragons are little more than guards for the elves having had most of their power stolen and hidden from them by the elves to keep them compliant.
In Dragon’s thief a fascinating discovery naming develops when a thief is randomly noticed by a dragon. Both are used to being essentially invisible n this world but what happens when they join forces? Deals, plots, and surprising alliances are born that could change the balance of power forever.
The Dragon's Thief has a dual POV approach by both main characters. Hearing both of their thoughts and assumptions about each other, and seeing their ideologies evolve was fascinating to listen too and I absolutely loved the narrator’s voice which balances these accounts so well.
We meet our MC Saskia who is the thief by trade. However, Saskia not realizing Castor is a dragon unwisely chooses him as her mark changing her life forever. Castor, who is immediately interested in Saskia’s skills as a thief for his own reasons.
Their unlikely partnership grows as he asks for her help and in return Saskia wants help saving her sister. This has both Castor and Saskia moving out of their daily routines and they are soon drawn into a plot that risks both races dragon and human.
This isn't a quick listen and could have easily been broken into a trilogy but I loved its flowing storyline and the fact it’s all kept together because it's a detailed and enthralling story! The details and world building are spot on and very immersive. I loved I could vividly imagine being inside this world. I could hardly step away from this book! In fact, I stayed up all night trying to finish it. I will definitely be continuing this series.

Enjoyable Listen!
I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook! I would say it's a great introduction into this world, and also the genre if you are maybe new to fantasy, as it wasn't laborious to read. That doesn't mean it isn't a great story though; the characters are well fleshed out, the author paints a fantastic picture of the world she has built and I had no trouble imagining the characters in my head. The build of the trust/friendship between the two main characters felt a little quick for me, but did not ruin the story at all. I will be looking out for additional titles in this series and checking out some of Ava's other works.

dragons, elves and humans and a pinch of magic
In this story, where elves are the most powerful beings, they rule over both dragons and humans. How long does it take until someone step up to them?
They love the intrigues where no one can rebel against the injustices and decisions of the Elves who enjoy incriminating anyone who dares to cross their path.
This story is for dragon lovers who are ready to give up their prejudice and believe in family.
The narrator did a good job of maintaining the suspense and take the audience to a journey in the fantastic world
