Dark secrets. An artist’s retreat. Unimaginable wealth.
When a group of artists congregates to paint a local scene, all is calm and peaceful. But after an apparently unremarkable local man is attacked, Inspector David Graham and his team snap into action.
As suspects surface, the Gorey police team must piece together a puzzle that can’t be solved without delving into the secrets of the town’s upper crust, taking them down a dark and unexpected path.

Another great case for David Graham
I really loved this audio book, it was a pleasure to re-visit a book that I read a couple of years ago, and I am pleased to say that I picked up a couple of little nuggets that I missed when I was reading it, including a crafty reference to a couple of characters from another series.
The story is clever and the investigation is hampered by one of the suspects being a 'very high net worth' individual who seemed to operate outside of normal rules, but this meant that normal ways of tracking alibis etc just didn't work. The reveal of the culprit was handled very well and led to a very exciting and frightening adventure for one of the police team.
Matt Jamie has done another sterling job with narrating this, I especially like the way that that distortion is used to make telephone calls more realistic, and the differing voices used for the different characters.

An unusual way to solve the case
This author is always entertaining and imaginative and this book even more so. I had no clue who the killer was or how the team was going to solve the case, a real stroke of brilliance. This is book nine in the series and the Jersey setting feels so comfortable for theses characters, every time I sit down to listen to one it's like capturing up with old friends or spending time with an eccentric but favourite uncle. The books can be read in any order but it definitely adds to the enjoyment if read in order. The author packs a lot into her story's with village life, character drama and of course the case and you are never sure where you will end up, other than with a killer behind bars and hours of fun. I really like this small town procedural series with it it's twisty plots and cast of quirky but delightful characters. I can't wait for the next instalment.
A local landscaper is stabbed and Inspector David Graham and his team are called in to solve another puzzling murder. The young man was well like by everybody and they struggle to find a motive for the attack. His job seems to offer the best clues, was it his boss? Or a rich client that wasn't happy. Inspector Graham and his team will need to follow some unusual clues to get to the bottom of this case especially when one of there own finds themselves in danger.
I like the narrator. He certainly knows how to keep the listeners attention and combined with a great story it is un-put -down-able.

Very much enjoyed this story, look forward to more
I like the characters and the story, sometimes the stories stretch credulity a little bit but it doesn’t spoil the plot and they are getting better with each book.
