About this listen

At age 14, Zelda Rossi witnessed the unthinkable, and has spent the last 10 years hardening her heart against the guilt and grief. She channels her pain into her art: a dystopian graphic novel where vigilantes travel back in time to stop heinous crimes - like child abduction - before they happen. Zelda pitches her graphic novel to several big-time comic book publishers in New York City, only to have her hopes crash and burn. Circumstances leave her stranded in an unfamiliar city, and in an embarrassing moment of weakness, she meets a guarded young man with a past he'd do anything to change....

Beckett Copeland spent two years in prison for armed robbery and is now struggling to keep his head above water. A bike messenger by day, he speeds around New York City, riding fast and hard but going nowhere, his criminal record holding him back almost as much as the guilt of his crime.

Zelda and Beckett form a grudging alliance of survival, and in between their stubborn clash of wills, they slowly begin to provide each other with the warmth of forgiveness, healing, and maybe even love.

Contains mature themes.

I loved this fab story

A love story that is deeper and that develops the characters so well that you become invested in what happens to them both.

Enjoyed

I really enjoyed this book, some tearful moments were had but I did not like the male narrator. Still, it wasn’t a dislike enough to stop listening. Lovely story

A story of redemption, love and forgiveness

This is a story about two broken people who don't think they deserve love or forgiveness. Together they take the journey to find another way and slowly build trust and restore some faith in each other and themselves. Emma Scott has the ability to always take you on a deeply emotional ride excavating the human psyche and uncovering core issues and slowly healing those broken souls. Her characters are strong and have been hurt by the ugly world, but she manages to show a relationship that slowly starts to heal them. The healing is so beautiful to see and HEA is guaranteed. The overall atmosphere of the book was immersive, loved the parallels with comic book and real life. There was also enough intrigue and some angst, but less than you can expect from this author, just perfect amount. Highly recommend this beautiful story, also loved that it was duet narration.

Brilliant

Loved this but I was quite poorly so had to keep rewinding it because I snoozed, but I think I’ll listen again in a few months to get the whole experience.

Immature and cliché story

It was very difficult to listen to, it was a very cliché teenage style love story with a predictable flow. There was no intrigue
