Four hundred years separate them.

One book binds them.

Glasgow 2024: Clem waits by her daughter’s hospital bed. Erin was found on an idyllic beach in Fynhallow Bay, Orkney with catastrophic burns and only one memory: her name is Nyx.

another folk masterpiece from one of my favourite authors

I absolutely loved this story, rich and multifaceted with wonderful description and characters. The tidying together of the stories and historical accuracy just adds the perfect cherry on top of a wonderful read ❤️

A perfect Autumnal read

This was a spellbinding tale which weaved between magic, family love, tragedies and the pagen arts throughout the centuries. An atmospheric story, perfect for October. Beautiful written and fabulous read. I couldn't stop listening, I just needed to know the outcome of Alison and Erin and their collective families. I will not hesitate to read/listen to another CJ Cooke novel.

Perfect for the ‘witching hour’!

An excellent tale of witches told in two stories centuries apart but brought together cleverly for a dramatic, tragic yet sensitively told ending. Perfect for Halloween!

intriguing story and characters

A cleverly woven tale following 2 separate storylines, which are merged at the end, lifting the fog and revealing their connection, bringing the story full circle.

Great narration and depiction of the characters, enabled great visualisation and brought the story to life. Enjoyable listen.
