Summary

The Book of Pride captures the true story of the gay rights movement from the 1960s to the present, through richly detailed, stunning interviews with the leaders, activists, and ordinary people who witnessed the movement and made it happen. These individuals fought battles both personal and political, often without the support of family or friends, frequently under the threat of violence and persecution.

By shining a light on these remarkable stories of bravery and determination, The Book of Pride not only honors an important chapter in American history, but also empowers young people today (both LGBTQ and straight) to discover their own courage in order to create positive change. Furthermore, it serves a critically important role in ensuring the history of the LGBTQ movement can never be erased, inspiring us to resist all forms of oppression with ferocity, community, and most importantly, pride.

Grab some Kleenex and sit back

This is such a moving, skilfully edited and beautifully spoken testament to the courage of so many queer pioneers. Don’t miss it!

Powerful pioneers

An interesting and informative listen. I have really enjoyed the book. It really is, so important to hear the stories of the past and the pioneers who changed the world. Definitely recommend to all as, regardless of sexuality, it provides a unique insight into the lives of LGBT+ Heroes.

Such an enjoyable listen

Inspirational, aspirational, uplifting, empowering and life affirming. This book made me feel proud of myself and of all that my brothers and sisters have achieved in the pursuit of LGBTQ emancipation. Let their oral history never be forgotten because we owe them everything. Thank you and thank you Mason Funk for bringing us this truth xx

America is not the world!!!!

Bitch please. I am so tired of UAS claiming to be the center of the universe. this is exactly what this book is doing.
A Much better title would have been gay American pride..
I really don’t like either how only a few of the narrative stories gets appreciate comments from the Author in the end— it makes me kind of suspect that then though he has included Bi-people... They are not giving the same honor comments.... don’t get me wrong this book is important work but only for people in the USA not the rest of the world as this Book is shamelessly claiming
