Summary
The number one best-selling author Stephen King's timeless coming-of-age novella, The Body - set in Castle Rock and originally published in his 1982 short story collection Different Seasons and adapted into the film classic Stand by Me - is now available as a stand-alone publication.
We'd all listened to the Ray Brower story...he was a kid our age.
The small town of Castle Rock is tuning in to the news of a young boy who has gone missing from a nearby town.
Gordie Lachance and his three friends set off along the railway tracks on a quest, determined to become famous by officially finding the boy's body.
But their journey becomes a rite of passage, and as they cross the railway trestle and the tracks begin to hum, the boys encounter an intimation of their own mortality.
Adapted into the 1986 classic film Stand by Me, The Body is an iconic exploration of friendship, loneliness, and adventure, an unforgettable coming-of-age story by master chronicler of small-town adolescence and universal experience, Stephen King.

Great story
Really good story about childhood adventure. My only criticism was (and this is one feature of a lot of his books) the chapter intermissions that detract from the main story itself. In this case it was the stories written by the narrator Gordon. Other than that a very good read.

I’m angry that I loved it
I kinda hate the writer as a person so I wanted to read one of his books just to form an opinion of him as a writer. Unfortunately, he’s talented. But he knows it and that’s what makes him insufferable. So I’m happy now to put this behind me and never come close to his work again!

Vintage King
Immediately got into the story. Classic King, classic simple yet enthralling story with characters you care about and characters you love to hate. Still, the whole story has a real resonance and brings back old fashioned childhood summers.

disappointing rip off
Much as I love Stephen King, I was very disappointed with this book. it was nothing more than a bunch of previous stories cobbled together. Using the excuse of creating a linked thread to pull the stories together Mr King proceeds to rip off his fans. Shame on you Stephen. Maybe shame on audible too for sanctioning this rip off. Both have used his best selling status in a very dishonest way. I stopped returning books because audible provide so many good reads in the free catalogue. I decided to take the good with the bad. But this one is going back as a matter of principle.
The only saving grace from this disgrace is the excellent narration provided by Frank Muller.
