the black velvet dress
A short but sweet (or not!) horror story! Well narrated and I definitely wanted to see how it ended :)

Beautifully written
The story is beautifully written and keeps its mystery throughout. It is clear the dress is haunted, I enjoyed it

dress
When you see a black velvet dress in a window and it calls at you. What happens as the buying the dress changes your world. This is a paranormal thriller with a ghost twist.
I enjoyed the narration of Elah Khorasani, who brings out the thrills

A beautiful descriptive short story.
I'm not usually an avid listener to audio books. I've previously struggled with taking the story in when listening to previous audio. However, I really love the idea of reading on the go. So when approached to listen and review The Black Velvet Dress, and it being a short story, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try an audio book again.
Firstly, J.E. Clarkson really captured my attention with such a beautiful descriptive story. This is a paranormal/ horror short story, and I was invested from the very first sentence. The story was perfectly creepy and definitely perfect for a cosy winter evening.
I thought Elah Khorasani, the narrator whose voice I felt really did bring this story to life. Her tone, pace, and overall pitch were perfect for this story. I also found her voice to be very soothing but at the same time did bring out the creepiness in the book, too. As previously mentioned, I struggled previously with keeping up with the storyline in audio books. However, even with such a heavily descriptive story, I was able to keep up with the story due to the pace of the narrator, and she has definitely given me hope and confidence to try more audio books.
I highly recommend it.

A beautifully evocative tale
A black velvet dress captivates a young woman in a shop window but after she buys it her perception shifts and her world changes.
A beautifully evocative tale with compelling narration. The imagery is intoxicating, the sights, textures and smells. The main character’s train of thoughts and her increasing sense of being out of time is captured so well. A perfect wintery ghost story with a twist!
