Summary

Elodie, Princess of Zelnon, has a mission. More than one to be exact. She has certain things to check off of her list: save the knight, escape Malediction, and overthrow her stepmother Fiona's rule of her kingdom. One of those alone is daunting, but all three?

As she travels with Prince Daire, an overzealous bird, and a white tiger with silver stripes, she is forced to make decisions that will affect them all. Each step they take brings a new challenge to overcome. Death becomes a very real possibility and she has to make a decision that alters someone she cares about irrevocably.

Saving herself is becoming increasingly impossible, and each choice seems to make matters worse. As they travel through the nightmare realm of Malediction, rescuing her knight might be the last thing she's able to do. Trusting her allies becomes even more difficult and in the end, Malediction might claim them after all.

a story with twists and turns

After the breathtaking ending of the first book, I was looking forward to the next one. Princess Elodie is on a mission to find her knight and a way back home. During the jurney with prince Daire and the two animals she gets to know Daire much better.
The world building was great. Everything got a fairytale touch and still feels a bit dark and dangerous. The author Dawn Brower finds the ideal balance between the characters' world of thought and an exciting storyline.
I liked Elodie more than in the first book. Her reflections become more centred. In this story I learned more about prince Diare. It was hard to resist his charm and I could easily understand Elodies struggle with her emotions. It’s getting more and more dangerous for the group and the twists and turns of the story were great. The end hit me unexpectedly and hard – I can’t wait to get the next book in this series.
Every audiobook in this series got a different narrator. This one is narrated by Rudy Duriex. In my opinion it sounds a little bit choppy and I didn’t like his interpretation of female voices so much. But I enjoyed his way to transport the emotions to the listener.
