the weirdest funny book

Would you listen to The Battle for Christmas again? Why?

This is a very funny but weird book, the story takes many twists and turns and would be something to listen to again as its not too long.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Battle for Christmas?

not knowing where the story was going, and getting whisked away by magic pyjamas!

Have you listened to any of Paul Chequer’s other performances? How does this one compare?

this is an exciting and engrossing performance that brings the book alive

Any additional comments?

My son loved this story of how two small children battled to save Christmas and you don't even need to save it for a snowy day!

I love it😇

I like Max's characteristics and Ellies. I also Blondie, Sheena and the Christmas Fairy. I also can picture what Marzipan Man looks like.

Not as good as Invasion of the Christmas Puddings

My boys (aged 5 and 7) ADORE Jeremy Strong's Invasion of the Xmas Puddings (voiced by Russel Boulter & available on Audible), so I thought I would be on to a winner.

Not quite. This book is nearly there - lots of madcap action, nice word play jokes, great pacing ... but it just will never replace "Invasion" in their hearts.

I think its probably because its surprisingly girly. There's a tonne of female lead characters (the baddie, the two toy glamour girl doll rebels, the evil angel hords, Ellie the human lead ...) and lots of references to make-up, dresses and fashion. Max (aged 6) even has to dress in a nightie and wear make-up to help in a spying mission at one stage, even though much is made of the fact he hates it.

This added to the fact that the (SPOILER ALERT) monster under the stairs really isn't, left this book a bit tame in comparison with Bad Christmas nearly taking over the World in "Invasion".

So to summarize; its quite good. It's definitely fun, especially if you are a girl of about 6 to 8. If you are a boy of the same age, head for "Invasion of the Christmas Puddings" which has sticky matter blatter splatter guns in it.
