Good

It was good to learn about Morton and Julie's first meeting. I like to know the background of the characters of the books I love to read.

A much more engaging read than the title suggests

I really enjoyed this book. It felt like it could be one of a series and I liked the protagonist and his interesting job as a genealogist. The narrative was tight and the story held together well. If there were a sequel I would read it.
I also enjoyed the readers voice who brought the different characters to life.

Is that it?

Extremely underwhelming - I assumed it was just coming to the end of the first act when it finished.

Plot: we meet 'forensic' genealogist in the middle of a job compiling a family tree. He meets a girl and likes her. He finishes the job with a slightly unexpected result.

This does not constitute a book, although it's helpful if you need exhaustive detail about the workings of the libraries and desk layout of East Sussex libraries and how to work a microfilm machine.
