About this listen

"Cole weaves a fantasy world that feels comfortably familiar, then goes to places you’d never expect. You won’t stop listening until the stunning finish." (Peter V. Brett)

Myke Cole, star of CBS's Hunted and author of the Shadow Ops series, debuts the Sacred Throne epic fantasy trilogy with The Armored Saint, a story of religious tyrants, arcane war-machines, and underground resistance that will enthrall epic fantasy listeners of all ages.

In a world where any act of magic could open a portal to hell, the Order insures that no wizard will live to summon devils, and will kill as many innocent people as they must to prevent that greater horror. After witnessing a horrendous slaughter, the village girl Heloise opposes the Order, and risks bringing their wrath down on herself, her family, and her village.

Performed by Colleen Delany, Duyen Washington, Michael Glenn, Scott McCormick, Thomas Keegan, Todd Scofield, Peter Holdway, Shanta Parasuraman, Henry Kramer, Christopher Walker, Michael John Casey, James Konicek, Eric Messner, Lise Bruneau, Bradley Smith, Chris Stinson, Jonathan Feuer, Nick DePinto, Nora Achrati, Yasmin Tuazon.

Interesting series, nice performance

The characters seem a bit slow in the beginning, but the setting is nice and interesting and the story is told quite graphically. I'll definitely listen to part two.

Interesting storytelling

Sometimes these type of books are a little slow but not this one. It does have to set the scene but even that keeps you interested. On to book 2 next. Good dramatised adaption too.

Another well made story. It has a dark twist

The large cast made it well played some of female voices where annoying but overall its a great piece of audio. Ambient sounds are amazing and fit into atmosphere

Interesting story but learn to pronounce the main characters name!

I do want to hear more from these books as there are some very interesting world building elements that, if developed correctly, will be really cool!

However, they need to learn how to pronounce Heloise... I thought they were saying Hel-wars, then saw the spelling in the blurb after finishing and it's a french name pronounced El-o-ees (or Hel-o-ees if in English), definitely not pronounced as it's spelt!

A decent listen, fast paced once it gets going, voice acting is good, and sound effects work really well.

Good voice acting let down by poor writing

Good voice acting let down by poor writing. Hopes for a good fantasy story and it began promisingly, but went downhill quite quickly. Book 2 is worse

A fun listen, but awful English accents at point

Would have been a better listen if the cast just kept their original accents. Can be rather immersion breaking at points
Otherwise the cast put in great effort and energy into their lines and is a fun listen

Enjoyable

I took a chance to listen to this book despite the reviews I saw that said the narration was bad. I totally disagree. I think the narration was very good. The narrator brought the story to life.
