Read by award-winning narrator Jeff Harding.

**NOW A MAJOR PRIME TV SERIES STARRING ALAN RITCHSON**

March 1997. A woman has her throat cut behind a bar in Mississippi.

Just down the road is a big army base. Is the murderer a local guy - or is he a soldier?

Jack Reacher, still a major in the military police, is sent in undercover.

The county sheriff is a former U.S. Marine - and a stunningly beautiful woman. Her investigation is going nowhere. Is the Pentagon stonewalling her? Or is she trying not to find the killer?

Set just six months before the opening of Killing Floor, The Affair marks a turning point in Reacher's career.

If he does what the army wants, will he be able to live with himself? And if he doesn't, will the army be able to live with him?

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be listened to in any order, The Affair is 16th in the series.

'There's only one Jack Reacher. Accept no substitutes.' Mick Herron

‘Jeff Harding’s [...] narration captures Reacher’s character perfectly [...] you have to savour every minute.’ The Sunday Times

This book takes us back

We find out the full story of why Reacher left the army and lives the itinerant life that he does. I never quite understood that from the allusions in previous books.

And of course Reacher does what he always does best - rights an injustice.

Jeff Harding the narrator - brilliant as always. I got a giggle at the end when Jeff talks as himself about the producers and invites us 'if you enjoyed this production write to us'...Something Jack Reacher's voice would never say, and never in such a cheery tone 😂

Another great Reacher novel

At first glance Reacher seems formulaic, but every instalment proves otherwise. The Affair is yet another classic Reacher - Calm, collected, ruthless. Small town America, gripped by tragedy, a mystery only Reacher can solve. Thrilling listen, well performed.

Love? Leads to misdirection

When Jack is sent on an undercover assignment as a serving officer, his bearing and manner just make readable by the local Sheriff.

I can’t get enough of this guys stories. Another JR hit for me

Usual Fare

Entertaining backstory explaining why Reacher left the army. As usual it kept me entertained although it did seem a little barmy. Reacher is not a man to get on the wrong side of. Looking forward to the next Reacher novel.

The Historic Look into Reachers Past

The storyline was as good as ever, enjoyed the background look into Reachers’ past, and the who done it factor as the book progressed.
Never fails to please.
Narration is always brilliant.. and enables you to “hear” each character in a believable manner.

Cracking Reacher tale

Loved the story - I’ll leave it to others to describe in depth
I’ve given the performance 3/5 as it was a sub par Harding narration. The main reason being that you can hear his swallowing and lip smacking which I did my very best to stop annoying me. C’mon guys sort out the mic, water and hydration.

Another winner

This, to my mind, is pure Reacher. The love interest is not too overpowering, the fights gruesomely described and a good plot. As always the narrator really IS Reacher! If you like Lee Child you will love this.

Affair is good

Found the book by Lee Childs interesting. Twists and turns. Love the one liners from the Jack Reacher character.

It’s all about the narration… of a great story.

The story has everything you could want from a Jack Reacher novel… an intriguing story, which is brilliantly descriptive, with plenty of humour and suspense plus great characterisation… told by the best narrator for any Lee Child book… I’ve ordered the set! Fantastic!!!

Towser T

I have said this before: this is another 5 star book, by a five star author, in a five star series. Not to forget a five star narrator.
Like all the Jack Reacher books, it grips you from the start. The pace is quick but any explosive moments seem to happen in slow motion, like a slowed-down car crash.
As always, this novel succeeds in detail, to make you think you are there; the environment is picture-perfect and anything that happens seems real.
Like all the Jack Reacher books, they are stand-alone but when I had read my first, I realised how good it was and went back to the first in the series. I am reading them in chronological order.
