Summary
Set entirely on a London bus travelling from Hoxton to Highbury and taking place over just 36 minutes, the events of The 392 unfold through a cast of charismatic characters coming from very different worlds. On the 392 are all the familiar faces you might expect to see on any bus ride through inner-city London in the grip of gentrification; delinquent school kids, the high-flyers, the weird, the wonderful and the homeless. These Londoners share two things: a bus journey and a threat. A threat which is ready to blow apart everything they know.
Ashley Hickson-Lovence is a writer from Hackney, London. While working as a secondary school English teacher, he completed his MA in Creative Writing and Publishing from City, University of London part-time and is currently completing his PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at the University of East Anglia. His debut novel The 392, set almost entirely on a London bus over just 36 minutes, was released in April 2019. His second novel Your Show is set to be released with Faber in 2022.

Really well performed
I couldn't stop listening to this, it was very interesting to listen to the individual stories. I enjoy short stories, and this was like an anthology, with all the very different lives of the passengers told throughout the journey.
It was a little hokey in places (especially Gloria) and predictable, but I would recommend it. The narrators were excellent!

close your eyes and be in London
A fantastic story of the London people actually live in brought to life beautifully. Anyone who has ever been on a twisting inner London bus ride will recognise the characters and the experience. Very well worth your time and attention

Brilliant
I listened to it one session. What a brilliant book. Getting the insight into people's lives and how interpretation of stereotypes can affect everyone.

Brilliant
The portrayal of so many diverse characters was amazing. A slice of London life of today in a Hackney transforming for its longtime residents. I often struggle with Audible narration because actors tend to perform rather than read the text. This was written as dialogue, so performance worked and was done really well.

More a radio play about a homogeneous group of people on a London bus( ranging from teenagers to dementing 80 year olds)
Powerful but a little contrived

Entertaining Story With Twists
I enjoyed this audiobook immensely; it was entertaining, humorous in parts and has a few unexpected twists to it.
Was interesting to witness events, stereotypes, thoughts & experiences on a bus journey from the different perspectives of the various, varied passengers & driver.
The thoughts & different dialogues of the characters is a truly amusing work of linguistic artistry.
The characters are very well performed & brought to life by the actors.
Some real life insights & thought provoking moments.
Highly recommended.

Awesome
loved this. a great example of how novels can remind us, make us feel that, we are all in doing what we can with what we've been dealt.
