Summary

When love collides with fate, only the daring will survive...

Artair MacKinnon will stop at nothing to dethrone the Usurper King Balliol. With his brother’s blood on the Usurper’s hands, Artair volunteers to scout Balliol’s base of operations ahead of a secret attack. But to avoid suspicion, his mission must be concealed as a diplomatic visit. He’s saddled with the gentle-bred yet headstrong Lady Sybil Douglas, acting as her bodyguard while she negotiates a truce. Her presence is supposed to give him cover, yet Sybil’s fiery beauty is a dangerous distraction. As the peril mounts, he finds himself falling for the one woman he can’t have. Can he bring down the Usurper before he loses his wits—and his heart?

As the daughter of the Guardian of Scotland, Lady Sybil Douglas has been raised in the vipers’ den that is court. Highland warrior Artair MacKinnon presents a new challenge, however. Though he scoffs at her highborn ways and calculated charisma, they must work together for the good of their mission. Thrust into close proximity on their journey, Artair’s rough-edged charm lures her into his arms, endangering not only their cause, but also her duty to wed another. With the fate of Scotland hanging in the balance, will their growing love destroy everything they’ve worked for?

The thrilling conclusion to the Four Horsemen of the Highlands series!
