Summary

Author Randall Morgan is on his way home after spending 14 days in the secluded cabin where he always goes to write the endings of his books. However, when he arrives in his hometown, East Alin, he is greeted by a disturbing sight.

At a traffic light near the city limits, someone has turned a lamppost into a makeshift gallows, and in it a man–dead and decomposing–hangs.

The sight of the hanged man is terrifying in itself, but it soon dawns on Randall that there are other–and far greater–problems in the small town. Because while he is waiting in his car for the police to show up, several people pass by the crime scene–and not a single one of them reacts to the fact that a dead man is hanging in the middle of the street.

Something has gone completely wrong in East Alin while Randall has been away.

started well but then it turned silly

I'm afraid this book wasn't for me , iv read plenty of sci/end of the world/apocalyptic books and this was unfortunately a weak one. Others might enjoy it so I don't want to be too critical.

This is a very original piece and I loved reading it.

Very original work with a dystopian feel. I’m going to read the series as the characters are so compelling. Read this book. It’s a different take on zombies 🧟

Page turner for me!

Love a well written survival story. Couldn’t guess where story was going so made it exciting. Need to start second book of trilogy!

"Stay away from the cities."

An unusual apocalyptic story, or is it an alien take over? Something happened to an author's home town whilst he was finishing his most recent novel as usual by spending the final two weeks in the country. With corpses hanging from lampposts and murderous policeman, Randall realised thar something wasn't right and joined forces with his elder brother to look for his missing son.
An intriguing tale, action packed and keeping the reader guessing. Narration is performed by Michael Lacio and is a compelling read, though not without some questions which, hopefully, will be resolved in a sequel

Good premise but didn’t need to be a trilogy

Overall I enjoyed the story but didn’t feel it needed to be presented as a trilogy. Obviously I knew how long the books were when I ordered them but it’s a bit frustrating to spend three credits on 13 hours narration. It didn’t feel like good value for money 🤷🏻‍♀️

No as good as the hype

Didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would from the reviews I had read - was a bit slow and meandering- would not recommend to a friend
