Summary

Secretly Rosie Strange has always thought herself a little bit more interesting than most people - the legacy her family has bequeathed her is definitely so, she's long believed. But then life takes a peculiar turn when the Strange legacy turns out not just to be the Essex Witch Museum, but perhaps some otherworldly gifts that Rosie finds difficult to fathom.

Meanwhile Sam Stone, Rosie's curator, is oddly distracted as breadcrumb clues into what happened to his missing younger brother and other abducted boys from the past are poised to lead him and Rosie deep into a dark wood where there lurks something far scarier than Hansel and Gretel's witch....

Surprise you are a witch, now time for the thrills

Thrillers with witches, what's not to like. Love the main character, and the regional perspective.

Good story but…

This was another good story to add to the series. I like the developing back story for Rosie’s family history with each book. However, I did think with the last book that the will they won’t they with Rosie and Sam had gone on long enough and since that remains the case that part is actually just getting a bit predictable and boring now, it definitely left me with a bit of a taint on the enjoyment of the book which was a good little story with a few supernatural elements to it.

Fabulous as always!

I have loved every single one of the Essex Witch Museum books and this one didn't disappoint. My only sadness was that it ended, they always end too soon in my opinion, leaving me waiting impatiently for the next installment. Brilliant books!

Another road trip

More details on why Sam is touchy concerning family matters. Within the pages of this book we again meet new characters with gifts of their own. Another great listen, leaving me waiting for the next. Need more of the Essex museum to satisfy the questions each book leaves me with.

Lost its way

I've really enjoyed all the previous books in the series, they have been funny (at some points laugh out loud funny), interesting and with an element of mystery and suspense that has made them comfort listening to me and the main characters Rosie and Sam are both very appealing and easy to connect with.

This book however felt like a bit of filler. The story was disappointing, the characters seemed different, at one point Rosie is cracking jokes light heartedly about her the rape and murder of her grandmother and then her mother being murdered too which has been a sub plot built up over the last few books. Just seemed off. And nothing very witchy in this one either. Hope the next one will be more engaging and true to the characters etc. Its still ok, but definitely the worst of the series in my opinion!
