Summary

An action-packed novella from New York Times best-selling science-fiction author James S. A. Corey, set in the world of his Hugo-nominated Expanse series - now a major TV series.

Like many before them, Cara and her family ventured through the gates as scientists and researchers, driven to carve out a new life and uncover the endless possibilities of the unexplored alien worlds now within reach.

But soon the soldiers followed - and under this new order, Cara makes a discovery that will change everything.

Loved it, these short stories really round out the expanse universe. Please... I need/want more like this! 😅

Wondrous and chilling and great!

Absolutely loved it. It carries wonder and cruelty of a fairy tale. Surprisingly tense and packed with content for such a short story.

Interesting, but ends abruptly.

This is more like a Stephen King slow burn horror than an Expanse story. However, it's interesting and well-written.

I have only given four stars just because it ends abruptly with no resolution, and only having the child's viewpoint doesn't put events into perspective.

Having said that, the child's obsessive focus and self-absorbed behaviour is genuinely shocking. I hope that the authors come back to 'finish' this at some point.

I love anything by SA Corey

This little book is no exception.

It's a claustrophobic tale; a family has set up home on a new planet and mysteriously earth is no longer contactable, so they're stuck there. But who/what are these strange and seemingly magical creatures who can bring dead birds back to life? They look like dogs, but somehow...not.

Intriguing. Menacing.

Wish it was longer.

Expanse Seies

The Expanse has become my favourite sci fi story. The style is excellent as but the shear depth of the story is excellent.

loved it

I have finally reached where the tv series gets to and I've loved it, weirdly one of my favourite books in the series.

What Happened On Lacona

Ever wondered what happened on Lacona? Well now you can find out in Strange Dogs.

I found Strange Dogs to be a great listen though a smidge short to be called a novella, a longish short story maybe (I know it looks weird to me too). The story of one little girl and her experiences with death are well written and, as always, well read. I can't really give any details of the story except to say it occurs durIng Nemesis Games or Babylon's Ashes on the colony planet of Lacona

Interesting short story

A nice short Expanse extension. Didn't really know what to expect but glad I listened to it. A tiny look in to life on one of the Laconia worlds before the next main novel, Persepolis Rising.

The narrator was brilliant as always and kept me engaged in the novel. 4 stars.

Insightful

An examination of the next generation living alongside the strange alien beings, both natural and proto-molecule (or something very like it; we don’t hear in this story) generated

OK

it was alright, could have been bit longer and flesh out more. i know they don't want to give too much away with the new book coming out but it did feel like it was missing something Compared to the other novellas
