Summary
A romantic cabin getaway doesn't go exactly as planned.
High up on the windswept cliffs of Pale Peak, Faye and Felix celebrate their new engagement. But soon, a chorus of ghastly noises erupts from the nearby woods: the screams of animals, the cries of children, and the mad babble of a hundred mournful voices. A dark figure looms near the windows in the dead of night, whispering to Faye. As the weather turns deadly, Felix discovers that his terrified fiancée isn't just mumbling in her sleep—she's whispering back.

good story so far
i was quite enjoying the story but i had to stop halfway due to the voice actor, it felt more like a theatre kid who’s over doing it in a sitcom than a reading of a horror novel will read it instead

Utterly wonderful
I absolutely loved this book! Some really creepy parts, written in a way that you can envisage exactly what’s happening. This book would make an amazing movie. Definitely a top read of 2024!

highs and lows
I hate to sound like a Steven King critic but the ending was awful it ruined the whole thing for me. There were some great parts which, if you have good mental imagery, were rather creepy and I liked where it seemed to be heading but it was just a big flop at the end.

Exciting story!
I know this book is based on a subtreddit, and it reads like one as I often get lost in subs. The story started well and peaked as fat as the horror genre goes interms of yeah, and this will give you the creeps. I'm a big folklore fan, so I loved it all.
However, by the end, I was exhausted and disappointed.
The ending fell flat, and I feel undeserving of such a good story, and it could have been shorter by at least 10 chapters.
Narration was good and well told.
I would still recommend it, but don't expect much by way of endings.

Pleasantly different
Different kind of horror novel to the usual that I seem to find, found that great.
Slight downsides are occasionally narrator seems like everyone is partially deaf as certain bits that are probably mean to be softly spoken are more shouted lol. And also the author seems to have a foot fetish, way too much feet talk in it for my liking

A great listen for the dyslexics
aAs a dyslexic person I struggle to read however I list to audit books. this one was great. and I big shout out to the narrator I have known idea how he did all the voices and kept them perfect throughout. Even did voices pretending to be other voices haha 👍👍
